{if Introduction = True}Additional notes:{else}You were surprised to see the name Whitespark on the list of saintesses. These women tended to be thought of like celebrities, but this was one case where the woman’s ordinary profession outshined her life as a hero. Liens Whitespark was a famous inventor and publisher, responsible for much of Missionaire’s modern defenses. That didn't just mean fortifications-- she'd designed an array of futuristic robotic guards, the likes unseen in the world before her genius. You were pretty surprised to hear she’d take to the field as a saintess.

Her face in the portrait didn't look particularly pleased about being depicted. Her features were soft and a bit pale, making her look like the type who'd be more at home indoors.

“Once again: no one chooses to be a saintess. Geod chooses them. If she hears Geod’s calling, she has little choice but to accept. And as I understand it she was… particularly resistant to accept these duties.” The recruit commander sighed, staring down at the portrait. “One can hardly blame her. She’s always been a bit of a recluse and that isolation has allowed her ample time to study her craft. This isn’t just being asked to protect the realm, or even just to offer herself to a squire– it’s also her being asked to renounce her old lifestyle. It can’t be easy.”

You frowned, joining the commander in observing the portrait of the elf, portrayed with a mousy hairstyle and oversized goggles. You speculated out loud that she probably wasn’t going to be especially fond of squires.

“No one said your job was going to be a simple one, Squire. If Geod chose her, he must have had a reason. She may not be a born adventurer, but she’s one of the world’s few capable robotocists. Those are the ones that make and maintain the newfangled iron golems and the like. I’m sure she has potential as the mother of the next generation that was prophesied as well. You’ll just have to…” he sighed deeply, rolling his hand. “Bring her out of her shell. She's in an unfamiliar situation now as a new saintess, just like you are a new squire. Might be you two share some common ground.”

It seemed like she would need a particularly delicate approach. The right way to treat her would probably be clearer after you met her in person.{endif}
