Liara Checks In

Shepard laid on the lab table as Miranda worked on reconstructing her body again. She used a lot of the same notes she had used the first time making sure to follow each message she had left just in case she had ever needed to repeat the operation. As she did, the door to the lab opened and in walked Liara T’soni.

Liara rested a gentle arm around Miranda. “How’s the progress?”

“Stable,” Miranda said. “She… she’ll be okay.”

“Will you?” Liara asked

“What do you mean?” Miranda asked.

“You haven’t slept. You’ve barely eaten. At this rate you’ll be dead before Shepard wakes up,” Liara said.

“I… I don’t have time…” Miranda said. “Last time I did this I had Wilson and the Shadow Broker.”

“Well I’m not Wilson,” Liara said. “But I am the Shadow Broker. Let me worry about Shepard. You need some much needed R&R. I brought someone with me.”

Liara gestured behind her.

Miranda turned to see Jack standing there with her arms crossed and her hair tied in a ponytail. “Jack…” Miranda said as she rushed forward throwing her arms around Jack’s neck and kissing her.

“Oh God, Miri. You haven’t been taking care of yourself,” Jack said. “You’ve lost weight.”

“I…” Miranda said. “You’re right I need a break…”

“Shepard will be fine. If she wakes up I’ll let you know,” Liara said. “For now you aren’t to return to the office for a week.”

Miranda nodded. “Okay,” Miranda said as she then followed Jack.

Jack smiled as she guided Miranda out of the lab and to the skycar. “First, Miri… you need a shower. And I know just where to go,” Jack said.
