Lets see what happens when Dinnertime rolls around.

Hermione had been in a state for most of the day. Deprived of half her sleep, subjected to a failed ritual, complicit in a bombing, and confused by Luna Lovegood, but all this was balanced by the fact that Umbridge had been removed. Perhaps her broken ritual had worked like that Felix-Felicis luck potion she had read about in Moste Potente Potions... or perhaps once Harry blew up filch's office the gears of Umbridge's removal were already turning so that element became irrelevant.

There was really no way to know. That did not stop Hermione from being a tired wreck for most of the day. Though since the entire school was a tired wreck, literally no one noticed.

So when they sat down for dinner, she did not notice the new professor sitting at the head table.

Dumbledore stood up, and spoke: "I bid everyone a good evening. Normally I would await the conclusion of our nightly feast, but i feel that an introduction may avoid unnecessary speculation."

Hermione then realized the presence if an adult she had not seen before at the table.

"I first announse that Professor Umbridge has been recalled to the ministry, where her skills will be put to better use in service of the Minister of magic."

The students started whispering amongst themselves.

"Also, we had planned to rely on weekly rotations from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement to fill the riole of Defense against the Dark Arts professor, until myself or the board could find a suitable applicant."

Ron leaned over "so if we're getting Aurors, who's that sitting between Snape and Hagrid?"

Hermions shushed Ron.

"However, shortly after the opening of the position made the news..."

Dumbledore's eyes flashed towards Luna, as the quibbler article arriving in his office had actually been the final straw needed to break Fudge's obstinance. Dumbledore had saved the memory of Amelia Bones in a voice that implied butter wouldn't melt in her mouth, had pointed to the article and asked fudge if he wanted her to: "schedule a news conference to explain how he didn't take the obvious action wanted by all parties, and what his solution actually was."

Of course, given the choice of accepting the article which seemed to say he made the correct choice and came with a pre-made solution, or trying to come up with a new solution on his own... he had no remaining option but to go with recalling Dolores.

It would be wrong to say that Malfoy was actually on Dumbledore's side for this decision, as Malfoy did not want to see his sole Heir at risk for being blown to smithereens... but it was more that he was anti-umbridge. No doubt he would work to replace her with someone who was equally anti-dumbledore, but less incompetent towards his son's safety.
