Chapter 57

The Other Guy
Let Edin go or Stay with him?
Let him go
You can't hover over Edin forever and besides, not like you could do anything to stop Lady Asune if she wanted to do anything, physically or politically. "Be waiting for you." You smile at Edin hugging him a little before letting go.
"Won't be long." He says with a smile before skipping towards the baths. You watch his ass as he goes regretting Lady Asune's interruption. With a disappointed sigh you enter the dinning hall.
It's pretty busy, busier than you would have thought considering how early it was. You grab your plate and look for someone to sit with. Which meant Lucia, you had no idea where things stood with Vatarie and finding out in the middle of the dinning hall doesn't sound like a good idea.
Lucia isn't in sight so you take a seat and are instantly joined. "Hi Christopher." Two voices said at once as plates appear on either side of you.
Oh great more proselytising. "Good morning."
"I'm Oriana." One of the sisters said.
"And I'm Auria." The other one said.
You looked between the two and while they weren't identical they were close. Both had appropriately golden hair worn to their shoulders and loose, blue with flecks of green eyes, pale skin that made their gold lipstick and eyeliner stand out, and their auras had ribbons of gold swimming throughout. Oriana however had slight wrinkles around her eyes which meant she must have been the one who eye sight you helped fix.
"Nice to officially meet you." You say hoping they would keep any god talk to a minimum.
"Where's your aura?" Auria asked as she took a mouthful of her breakfast.
A twinge of embarrassment fueled annoyance infected your mood. "Tucked away." You mumble around a mouthful of your own breakfast.
"Ow. What?" Auria squeaked and looked past you at her sister.
"I'm sure Christopher has his reasons." Oriana growled at her sister. "And we aren't going to question him."
You stopped with a fork halfway into your mouth. "Why?" You'd apparently gotten used to internally questioning yourself that someone not wanting to do so seemed worthy of investigation.
"Because the Mother works through you." Oriana said with a conviction that was a little unnerving.
"That ritual had nothing to do with me, anyone can do if they understand how it works. I can explain in detail how to do it yourself." You really hope you can nip any religious messiahing in the bud, a new church in a capital city will undoubtedly leap at something that could pull more believers to it.
"We tried. It only works for you." Auria responded going back to eating.
"Hench why my explaining in great, excruciating detail how you can do it." You put your fork on the plate and look at Oriana, clearly the believer of the two. "It won't take long really." You consider running her through the process right now but are stopped by her holding up a hand.
"You gave me my eyes. After eighteen years without them it doesn't matter if I could have done it myself, you did it for me, and you did it seconds after reading a passage from the Mother's Guidance." She quite calmly explained and you realised getting yourself out of this wasn't going to be as simple as explaining a spell to her.
So you turned to the sister. "I'm nobody special, anyone can do that spell, give me five minutes and you'll be doing it no problem."
Auria shrugged. "Probably but Sis says that isn't the point." She resumed eating.
You sighed, "Oriana you had a genetic condition making distant object blurry. The reason your magic didn't fix it on it own is because it was a part of you, it didn't know there was anything to fix. The ritual we did let your magic use my understanding to fix it. No religion involved at all, just two peoples magic interacting." if you knew the specifics of how shortsightedness works you'd have added that as well and while you were guessing on how the ritual actually worked you were confident that she didn't know enough to question it ... well that was an ironic thought.
Oriana looked at you as you comments flowed over her. "So you knew my eyes weren't working, knew why they weren't working, and fix them how long after figuring that out?"
You opened your mouth to retort when you had to close it to rethink your wording. "I guessed based on your squinting but I didn't know for sure, and I didn't fix them you did you just used my help to fix them yourself." You think that sounded right.
"So you gave me the knowledge and power to heal my own eyes?"
"Yes exactly." You answer glad to have that out of the way.
"And you just happened to show up at the Church when I was there and chose the ritual that would heal me and have it work the first time." She continued.
"We-well, I mean ..." she actually made a good a point there, you were literally led there by a golden path. "that's not the point the ritual was nothing special."
"So aside from all the Mother's intervention there was no intervention?" Oriana questioned you as she finished the last of you breakfast.
You take a few seconds. "I think I like your sister more." Your annoyance at her being kinda right here made you lash out.
"Ha, told you that's why my tits are bigger." Auria laughed.
"Wait what?" You turn to look at her no idea what is happening.
"You fixed Sis's eyes and gave me bigger tits, I told her it was because you like me more." Auria bragged.
"No I," Oriana groan, "I never said that, I just said I don't think he made your tits bigger."
"But they are bigger, and he only fixed your eyes and he just said he likes me better sooo." She pulled in a breath and then in a sing song voice said, "ha ha he wants to fuck me more than you."
Oriana's perfect calm finally snapped and she lean behind your back. "He doesn't want to fuck you! The Mother just wanted you too, argh fine." She slapped her hands on the table and walked off.
"Ha." Auria let out. "By the way totally down for a fuck if you wanna." She squeezed her chest together with her forearms. "Haven't gotten to try these out yet." She winked then hopped up and ran after her sister.
You considered running after them to try and further convince them but have a feel it would only make things worse. Plus you are still waiting on Edin.
"Christopher?" Think of the devil. You look over your shoulder to see Edin approaching looking at the plates next to you and the two retreating sisters. "More women courting you?"
The thought sends a worried shiver through you. "I really hope not." Edin moves a plate out of the way and takes a seat. "Baths good?"
"Yep all cleaned out." He says with a wink.
You smirk and nudge him with you knee. "Suppose that means you need another filling." Edin blushes at you but makes no hint of disagreement.
You eat together enjoying each others company. Edin didn't have much food, likely from at least some of the morning fillings you had given him, and you were mostly done so you finish together.
After a few moment you ask, "Think Lady Asune's had all the stuff cleared out of our room yet?"
"Or she has moved in entirely." Edin's said it jovially but it was a poor mask for the concern flooding his aura.
"I'll be fine Edin. We have a higher rank to back us up after all." You smile, without your own aura it was much easier to mask your concern. "Speaking of, think she'll show up soon or wait until class start?"
"She'll make an entrance." Edin diplomatically lets out.
"Guess we should go get out class schedules so we are ready for it then." You sigh, hoping there won't be a Lady Asune hanging around.

Reborn into Calitian
You are reborn into another world of magic and fantasy. How you live is your choice, the consequences are as well.
The world of Calitian is a world of magic whose sentient inhabitants vary from human to decidedly not. You are rather unexpectedly reborn into this world however you do not get the expected god delivered spiel about said rebirth so you are on your own. This should be interesting.
