What do you do?
Let go of your grudge
You hate the idea of trying to reconcile with the man who almost single-handedly made your high school life hell, but at the end of the day, you’re not that person anymore. No good could come from holding onto the past. “Well. I’ve definitely changed since back then. I don’t know if he has. But- maybe you’re right. Maybe we could at least just say hi and get it over with.” You say. Katie beams at this. “And if he’s still a total dick, we can just egg his house or something.” You add, and she laughs at your joke. “Yeah! That’s the spirit!” She says with her usual bubbly enthusiasm. But then she gives you a meaningful look, like she’s proud of you. “I’m glad you’re able to be the bigger person. It means you’ve grown past whatever happened back then. I’m happy for you.” She says, and she hugs you. You share a tender kiss. In that moment, all those bad memories seem very far away.
