Chapter 4 by Veiled Veiled

Welcoming the new neighbor

You both walk over together

You and Katie knocked on Brian’s door. He opened the door and had a curious look on his face as his eyes ran down Katie’s body. Then he turned to you and seemed to recognize you. “Hi guys, what can I- oh shit, Dylan, is that you?” He asked incredulously. You nodded in confirmation. “Hey Brian, it’s been a minute. Us ending up down the street from each other- what are the fucking odds?” You asked with a laugh. “That is pretty crazy. But it’s good to see a familiar face around here.” He said, addressing you like you were some old friend, which was a little strange, but surely better than animosity. He turned to Katie. “And you are?” He asked, gazing at her. She smiled and shook his hand, introducing herself. He invited you in, and you could see him check out Katie’s ass when she walked through the doorway.

You guys spent a while catching up. He filled in Katie on “the good old days” conveniently omitting the parts where he picked on you. Whether this was to make himself seem nicer or as a concession to you wasn’t clear, but Katie did give you a few skeptical looks. It was kind of nice to have someone to reminisce with though. Time passed and while you and Katie didn’t become best friends with Brian or anything, you’d periodically exchange a wave or see Brian talking to Katie while she was out jogging. He invited her over to his pool a few times, but Katie seemed to think this was just an excuse to check her out in a swimsuit. She’d laugh it off, always telling him she’d take him up on that one of these days. Weeks passed and became months. As work settled down from how hectic it had previously been, Katie noticed you were working less overtime and seemed less stressed. Because of this, Katie decided it was time to talk with you about starting a family again. How do you respond?

Are you ready?
