"I apologise for offending you," Camila bowed her head towards the guard captain.

"You have every reason to object to my appearance. I do look like the mage known as Cilla. My master, a wizard like myself, employed powerful magics to make me look like this. It's for the Coliseum. My appearance is designed to cause fear." Camila hung her head in apparent shame, "Even if I win my freedom I may not even be able to reclaim my real face."

Aaralon knew Camila was lying. Would the Captain fall for it? Outside the College the wizards of the world were little more than hedge mages, people with just a trickle of power and not even as powerful as a student high mage like Aaralon.

The captain looked thoughtful, "Hmm. This is a vile story. I have heard of gladiators being made to look like beasts and animals though - and surely there is no beast more fearsome than Cilla. Not unless you believe the stories that Cilla was nothing but an underling to the dark queen Vicera."

"Vicera is just a myth," snorted one of the other guards.

"I think we should return to the Coliseum before we cause any more trouble," offered Camila with her head still hung low.
