What is to become of the Dykesbeck Girls now?
Let’s follow Suki and find out
Still fuming, Suki waited in her room, until she was sure that all the others had left. Then she stomped down the stairs and headed for her Mathematics class. She arrived late and slunk in at the back. Not a good start to the course. But once she was there, the young Japanese girl began to relax. It was good to be back in the world of numbers, where things were logical and ordered and didn’t do anything unexpected.
Shy though she normally was, she found herself beginning to make friends with her classmates by the end of the first session. Perhaps in some perverse way the **** events of the previous night had helped her to overcome her awkwardness. So, perhaps it was not all bad; in fact, maybe even… good?
A slightly nervous young man named Ollie had singled her out and kept on engaging her in hurried fumbling conversation. Suki welcomed his interest and tried to encourage him in her equally halting English. She was not sure that she would choose him as a boyfriend. But if a boy was interested in her… well that meant she couldn’t be a lesbian. Could she? Every time she felt sure that she had convinced herself of that, Suki was struck by a sudden unasked for vision: Cathy’s breasts; Jo’s pussy; the exquisite feel of Allison’s tongue on her clit…
Suki didn’t go back to the house after the first class. There was no point: the grounds were too big and the break too short. Anita hadn’t gone back either she noted. Suki saw the Indian girl at one of her breaks. Not surprising, since the School of Finance backed onto the School of Mathematics. Anita was laughing and joking with a group of new friends. She too had pushed last night as far out of her head as she could it seemed. At one point Anita looked up, her eyes met Suki’s and she froze in alarm. Suki swallowed nervously. Then Anita smiled and waved a little awkwardly, waited for Suki to do the same, and then turned back to her new friends. And Suki turned to hers.
After lunch, Suki decided to head back to the house. But then she paused, suddenly certain that the others would put off going back for as long as possible. She decided to go and look for them: To put herself in their line of sight, if only for a moment. To remind them that she existed and that last night had happened and that it was okay.
But who should she look for first? Not the twins, she decided. Not yet. They were just a bit too ****. Maybe Allison, with whom she had shared those sweet kisses. But Alison had seemed angrier than any of them at what had happened. No, maybe not Allison. Maybe Cathy. With her decision made, Suki set of for the History faculty.
However, it was Jo that the Japanese girl saw first. But of course, Jo didn’t see her. Suki tried to edge closer to her… friend? Lover? Housemate? But what would she say to attract the blind girl’s attention? She turned and walked self-consciously away.
Finding Cathy was not hard. As with Anita, the blonde American was busily socialising with her new classmates. Also, as with Anita, Suki’s sudden appearance came as a shock. Suki smiled at her nervously from a distance. Cathy paused and thought, cut off from her companions for a moment. After a few moments that seemed like an eternity, she met the oriental student’s gaze once more and smiled and winked. Suki let out a sigh of relief and went happily on her way. It was as if a great weight had been lifted from her.
With her spirits buoyed, Suki set off for the Geography block and Allison. On the way, she passed the twins, holding court – typically – amidst a noisy group of girls. When they saw Suki, they whooped loudly and beckoned her over. Suki smiled shyly at them, but politely declined their invitation and walked on.
When the eighteen-year-old oriental finally found Allison, the black girl was sitting on her own, deep in thought. Suki wondered at the change in her. She was not the animated extrovert that she had been for much of the previous evening. Suki wondered if it was the events of last night that had wrought such a change in her.
Nervously Suki approached. The black girl looked up and scowled. Without another word, Allison got up grabbed her bag and stomped away. Suki swallowed, the intended greeting killed in her throat. She wondered if Allison really would move out that day. Fighting back the tears Suki walked off in the opposite direction.
Suki wandered aimlessly for the remainder of the afternoon. Finally, she turned to head back towards the house. As she walked, Suki noticed a figure ahead of her. She recognised it as Jo, walking briskly, her white stick held lightly in front of her to guard against any unexpected object. Suki sped up and drew alongside the blind girl. The Japanese girl greeted Jo, who answered politely and then they walked for a time in silence.
What happens back at the house, or on the way?
