Chapter 14
by
galant soldier
What happens back at the house, or on the way?
Jo breaks the silence
After walking along for what seemed quite a while, Jo's quiet, thoughtful voice interrupted Suki's thoughts:
"Have you seen any of the others today?"
Suki nodded quickly, before catching herself and blushing lightly. "Yes, I saw them. Everyone else seems to be all right, but Allison is still quite angry."
Jo nodded in return, smiling faintly. "Well, I can imagine why, but I think there might still be a way for us to turn this around."
Suki glanced over warily. What could the sightless girl be planning?
The blind brunette took Suki's silence as a sign to continue. "What you said this morning was very profound, Suki. I think that the others have accepted that wisdom very well, but Allison is still upset and ashamed of what happened last night."
Suki frowned, "I do not see how we can convince her to stay then." She looked up as Dykesbeck House came into sight around a bend in the path. She could see a tall redhead standing on the front porch with another girl. What were they doing?
"Don't worry, Suki." Jo glanced almost squarely at Suki as a knowing gleam entered her smile. "I'm sure we can think of something. We're all friends after all."
Suki was taken aback by the confidence in the other girl's tone. How could she be so sure that Allison would not leave?
What does Jo know? And who's on the porch? Doing what?
