Lana, Exposed in the Sun

Lana never got along well in the Sun.

Naturally pale, her skin didn't take well to tanning, meaning she spent the harsher Summer days drowning in sunscreen, and the beach was far from her ideal vacation destination. Combined with the bugs of spring, the chill of fall and winter, and the general lack of AC and heating, Lana was a much more of a home body. Of course, she had to make a living some how; failing to find a job that let her work from home, she got an office job, just a subway ride away from her apartment.

A blaring alarm woke Lana up earlier than she would have liked, stringy black hair a complete mess draping across her face, down to the straps of her loose white tanktop over her lithe torso. Muttering curses, she kicked off her comforter, revealing a matching pair of white panties, which was discarded along with her top as she jumped in the shower and rushed through her morning routine.

Lana's job wasn't an exciting one- sitting at a desk all day typing into a computer- but it made money, and she was doing well enough for herself. It was enough to get her looking presentable, at least, black hair in a ponytail over a black pantsuit, and it was enough to send her down the street and through the subway every morning. Lana winced as she stepped outside, a cloud moving itself out from in front of the Sun; as much as the Sun bothered her, even it wouldn't keep her from work.

Little to Lana's knowledge, this would apparently be the day that the Sun would start trying to. Who knows what the cause was- coincidence, cosmic accident, or maybe the Sun itself decided to dislike Lana as much as she disliked it. Either way, she didn't notice that, from the walk from her apartment to the subway station, then from another station to her office, she didn't notice her formerly black suit was now a strangely sun-bleached gray...

Lana made her way up to the 14th floor and took a seat at her desk when she saw the reminder she'd put up on a sticky note at her desk- she had forgotten that today was....
