Chapter 149 by CaptainPulse
Who do we follow?
L'Abbee, again
As the drow snuck out of the barn, keeping his eyes peeled for any farmhands that would be up this early, L'Abbee finally got a good look at the sun. The early morning hours of the day, when the sun was barely above the horizon and bathing the ground in a quiet subdued light, were L'Abbee's favorite part of the day. Like most drow, he was sensitive to direct sunlight, but unlike many of his people, he didn't care for absolute darkness. This part of the day, when the light was dim but not gone and the color of the land could be seen in diluted shades, was beautiful enough to make him cry, at least when he was alone.
L'Abbee had never been like most drow back home. He was too sensitive and small to get along with the other males, and not nearly good enough at manual labor for the matriarchs, so he ended up being despised by everyone back home. It was only in a **** bid to escape the confines of the Underdark that he came across the sun for the first time. It was entirely different from the dim lighting underground, so bright that looking directly at it burned him. Yet he wanted nothing more than to bathe himself in it despite the pain. In mere moments, he had found a bliss unlike any he'd had underground, so he decided to explore the surface more. It wasn't long after that he made the acquaintance of Patty and became a valued member of her crew, though it was mainly because she had confused him for a woman due to his effeminate face and small figure.
It had been so long since he'd thought of the Underdark, and he certainly didn't miss it. Still, part of him wished he could have shown all his naysayers his success as a pirate before he lost everything. It was nothing to get upset over, though; he still had his S'Pang-Kee, and that was enough.
As he walked into the village streets, watching out for the address Zed had told him of before, he couldn't help but feel nervous at the number of eyes on him. Whether it was because of his state of dress or because this village hadn't seen many drow before, most of the village people's eyes were on him as he made his way through the town square. He hurried his pace, wanting to get to his destination before the sun got too high in the sky.
Ignoring the whispers of the village people, L'Abbee instinctively cased the area, trying to get as many details as he could and utilize his experience to find the best places to find loose gold or to flee should the need arise. He was a bandit through and through, after all. Still, the village was more confusing than he first realized, so following the directions he was given was harder than he expected. Still, after about an hour of searching, he found the merchants' guild and made his way inside.
What does he find there?
