Krissy earns a guards attention

As the inmates began to disperse after the confrontation, Krissy felt a sense of unease linger. She was keenly aware that her refusal to align with any group had left her ****, a fact that did not go unnoticed by the observant eyes within the jail.

One of those watching eyes belonged to Officer Daniels, the guard who had smirked at her on her first night. He approached her with a casual saunter, his expression a mix of curiosity and something more insidious.

“Trouble already?” Officer Daniels' voice was smooth, almost friendly, but Krissy could detect the underlying menace.

She straightened up, trying to appear confident. “I can handle myself,” she replied, looking down at her feet.

Daniels chuckled, leaning in closer. “This isn't the kind of place where a pretty young thing like you should be trying to handle things alone,” he said, his eyes scanning her.

Krissy felt her skin crawl under his gaze. “Thanks for the advice, but I’ll be fine,” she said, trying to keep her voice even.

He smirked, “You know, I’ve seen a lot of girls come and go in this place. The smart ones know when to accept a helping hand.” He paused, looking around to ensure they weren’t overheard. “I could be that helping hand for you, keep you safe from the... rougher elements in here.”

Krissy’s mind raced. His offer was tempting – protection in a place like this was valuable. But she knew that his help would come at a cost, one she might not be willing to pay.

“What do you want in return?” she asked, though she was afraid to hear the answer.

Officer Daniels smiled, a predatory gleam in his eyes. “Let’s just say, a little favor now and then.”

Krissy hesitated. Maybe he could make her life easier, but she wasn't sure she was willing to pay the price.

“I don't know...,” she said timidly, her mind churning with the implications of his offer.

Daniels nodded, seemingly satisfied with her response. “Don’t take too long. Offers like this don’t come around often.”
