Knock knock

“Victoria can talk privately please?”

“Ugh. Sure… is everything okay?” Victoria turns to her fellow senior sisters tilting her head towards the door. The two other sisters close the door behind them.

“Yes, hopefully. Deva has something to say. Something she just opened up about to me. Something important.”

You’re frozen in place not knowing what to do. Your mind blank, all blood drain from your face, sweat dripping down your face.

“This has to be serious, Devon looks like she’s about to pass out! Did something happen?! Was your tape leaked?! IM GOING TO FUCKING KILL JACK!” Victoria jumped straight into protective big sister mode. “No one! NO ONE FUCKS WITH MY LITTLE SISTERS”

“Calm down, Deva is fine. No one is hurt, her blow job tape wasn’t leaked” Maddie tries to settle Victoria.

You’ve never had anyone jump to your defense like that before. Maddie did her best to comfort you after being bullied, but never jumped to attack mode like this. Deep down, it brought you some comfort. Is this what it’s like to have friends? Your own family doesn’t defend you like this, well not since dad died. Mom has been drowning her pain in **** to the point of knowing what day it is.

“… okay so why does Devon look like she’s about faint? Did she take something? Was she ****?” She starts to amp herself up again going into protective mode.

“No, no. It’s about our registration forms. Well, Deva’s forms. You see…” Maddie talks for you

“Maddie stop. Devon this is clearly about you. What’s wrong? You’re my sister, I’m going to do what I can to protect you”

“I… I’m… I’m not a girl” you shut your eyes readying yourself for Victoria’s wrath. A wrath that was about to protect you now going to bring hell your way.

“What are you talking about? You signed up for a sorority of course you’re a girl.” Victoria looks confused.

“She means she wasn’t born a girl” Maddie speaks for you as you can’t bring yourself to look up.

“…. Okay… but you signed up for a sorority. You put your name on the forms saying you want to join a SISTERhood. That makes you my sister.” Victoria still confused about what this is all about.

“I did, but I’m not a girl.” You barely whisper with tears running down your face. Maddie’s hugs you trying comfort you the best she can.

“I’m so confused, are you scared that we wouldn’t accept you? Is that what people think of APO? That we’re a bunch of TERFs? We fund raise all the time for daddy’s clinic, why would they think that?!” Victoria starts to get herself amped again, this time at the thought that people think APO is not accepting of the queer community.

“You don’t understand Victoria, I’m not a girl” you say now full on sobbing into Maddie’s shoulder.

“Deva, I told you. I love you, you don’t have to hide.” Maddie whispers into ear holding like she always did after a bully beat you.

Minutes pass before Victoria breaks the silence. “Deva, I know what you’re going through. I don’t understand gender dysmorphia, but my time working in daddy’s clinic taught me about it. It’s okay that you’re trans, that’s why we chose you for the scholarship.”

Now you’re the one that is confused. They know you’re a man; and still allowed you to join the sorority? And chose you for the scholarship?

“You’re the first transgender sister of APO. When we crossed referenced your application with school records, is when we found out. This school is archaic in that they don’t put preferred gender in their forms.”

“You hear that, Deva! It’s going to be okay! You don’t have to hide anymore!”
