The next morning Arerto was prepared by her ladies in waiting for today she would be elevating Sabine to the nobility. Not only was Arerto making her a noble but she was putting her in charge of her armed forces. Arerto had breakfast then headed down the throne room where all the nobility and senior military were gathered. The first order of business was to formally accept the retirement of the outgoing General. The ceremony was called to order and Arerto began.

"People of Talia my loyal subjects, today is both sad and happy. It is my sad duty to accept the retirement of general Hingis. He has served the Talia tirelessly and with great loyalty to the crown. I wish him great happiness in his retirement. Today also allows me to appoint a new general and to that end, I must first elevate the next general to the nobility. Thank you, General Hingis, for your service."

Sabine was summoned into the throne room and she walked down the carpeted aisle towards the throne where Arerto stood. Sabine was dressed in ceremonial armour highly polished and she was sweating not being used to this heavy protection. She much prefered her light armour and her speed As she approached she detected the slight smile on Arerto's face.

As Sabine approached she went down on one knee and kissed the hand of Arerto taking in the fragrance of her perfume. From the side, she noted that a ceremonial sword had been brought out on a red velvet cushion and placed before Arerto who took it in her right hand. Arerto cleared her throat and began.

"Sabine, you are here today to be elevated to the nobility are you prepared to take the oath?"

"Yes your majesty"

"Sabine, please give your oath"

"I promise as a knight to never lie and always fight to defend those weaker than myself. Spread my love to the people of the realm. To be brave and strong always for the length of my service to Talia. I swear that I will defend the crown and Talia until the end. I will keep the people of Talia safe and guide them to the light. I will keep your secrets and those of Talia and defend Talia from all enemies."

Arerto raised the sword and gently touched on each of Sabine's shoulders and the top of her head.

"Arise Lady Sabine of Talia."

Sabine rose and thanked Arerto but this was only the first part of the ceremony. The afternoon would be her promotion to General of the armies.
