Chapter 5 by Frog-Wizard Frog-Wizard

¿WIll it be?

Kind of, Patron and Blessings

As a Champion of an Otherwordly ****, you gain four blessings to aid you in your journey. Three of those blessings will always be given, Regardless of your patron: one Which lets you quickly learn the languages spoken in these lands, another which starts you with a base value of 10 for each attribute, and the third which gives you an additional +1 attribute point to allocate per level. The fourth blessing is a gift directly from your Patron, and can only be obtained through that Patron.

"Nine whole points each level... that's kind of a lot, wait a second i need to learn the languages? Damn, that's gonna take long, at least i have a lot of insight, it might speed it up" he sighed, seemingly annoyed, but actually very much excited about the prospects of learning so much stuff, besides, he was accustomed to learning a lot, it was part of the job he had "So.... a Patron?"

As a Serpentine, the only Patron available to you is Leviathan, The First Serpent. Leviathan is the god of Ambition, of Hunger, and Exploration. this Patron provides Three blessings:

Hunger For Knowledge: Thanks to the effects the divine has on you, when you are learning through oral or written tradition, you learn skills at a rate of 50% on top of the normal rate, and don't get hungry or thirsty while doing so, knowledge being your sustenance.

Second Skin: Blessed by a divine power, the face you wear is not always your own, you can take the shape of any humanoid creature you have seen for at least an hour, you do not gain their traits or abilities, But anyone will believe you are the species you look like, unless you do something that reveals yourself, this ability is undetectable by any magical means.

Forbidden Radar: Placed upon your heart by the divine, a compass always points towards the nearest thing of your desires, be it treasure, dungeons, knowledge, and the like, though, finding these places does not mean you are powerful enough to enter them, let alone get what they hold.

"Oh god" is the only words that come out of Arsenemouth, he feel a bit sad about only get one of these to start with, they all seem wonderful, but he has to make a choice sadly "hmmm, let's see, i doubt a second skin would help me, it's cool, and all, but it's hardly fitting for a Mage, or at least my kind of mage" it was mostly for a rogue build, an arcane trickster, and while he was arcane, he was still a long way from being a trickster, besides, he didn't spend so long on the character creator to just use a face of someone else, ¿what would be the point?.

Two choices, it should be hard, but he does not have any desire to stay idle reading books and going to a school inside of a fantasy game, at least not at the start of the game since it would hardly do anything then, even though it's a fantastical blessing "yeah, it's cool, but i rather actually go and find stuff rather than read about it.... maybe i can choose it later or something" he looks at the last choice his eyes sparkling with true interest "A radar implanted upon my heart, yeah, you do you Leviathan, there were definitely easier ways to do it" With a heavy sigh, he makes his choice.

Choosing The Forbidden Radar plants upon you the object known as: The Heart of Ambition, a relic from long times past, there will be those that seek to take it from you, or use you as a mere tool in their schemes, the power this item holds is destructive in the wrong hands, ¿are you sure this is the blessing you want?

"Awfully nice of you to care Leviathan, i can do with the extra difficulty just fine" says Arsene, with the natural overconfidence of a mage, oblivious to the actual dangers such a thing can have

The Heart of Ambition: though called a compass by those who want it, it's nothing like it, implanted in the place of your heart lies this Ancient Relic, replacing all functions of it to the best of it's abilities, meditate upon it and it will tell you the direction of what you truly desire, whatever it might be.

"..... fuck" said Arsene realizing the monumental fuck up of a choice and what it meant now, of course, it makes sense in retrospect, he is actually pretty excited too, but the dread kinds of win over the excitemenr "guess i might have bit a little more than i can chew.. can i choose something else?"

You have chosen to be The Champion of Leviathan, The First Serpent. Usually, One choice remains, where in this vast world do you wish to begin your adventure?

"Wait, come on you can't just leave me hanging like that, it's not to late to-" Arsene can't finish without being talked over by that voice, it's weird, it's speaks directly to his mind, but it's oppresive enough to silence every small detail in that room

The starting locations available to you are determined by your Race and Background, as a Serpentine you aren't native to any land, and the gift you have chosen, means you don't really get a choice

"¡¿What do you mean by that?!, wh-" again he was cut off, this time not by the voice, but by the large void that became the floor of the small study he was in, Arsene fell into the world of Telluria, and by fell it was kind of literal, he could see everything from up here, and while it was beautiful, falling into it was pretty horrible, even more by the place he seemed to be falling towards, it looked kind of desolate.

The Unforgiving Desert, once a beautiful land, ravaged by time, filled with treasure of civilizations long past, ready for the picking by the fools and brave alike, this place will be your starting point, Make the most of your clean slate, Champion of The First Serpent

"Hey come on! This was funny but you cannot be serious! Aren't blessings supposed to be good?!" whatever devs made this cheeky little AI for the character creation was about to be insulted in such a way that their ancestors were gonna feel it, but time does not wait for insults, everything goes black, and as such, Arsene could only blame himself for that choice he made, it had a warning for god's sake, that was a dumb move on his part, at least he's playing the part of the overconfident mage well, or Arcanist, man, being alone with your thoughts kinda sucks, he didn't even have the time to check his stats or anything else.

¿Consequences?
