Chapter 16 by Bigbop38 Bigbop38

Who is it this time!?

Kimberly Oak

A cup of coffee sits on the dining room table, as well as various documents and photos related to Pokémon research. They are all spread out in front of the lone occupant of the room, Kimberly Oak. The mother of Daisy and Blue, and the daughter of the famous Professor Oak.

She is 41 years old, though she could likely pass for a decade younger. Her height and proportions are essentially identical to Blue’s, though her hair and eyes resemble Daisy’s. Her blonde hair is drawn back in a ponytail and her blue eyes sit beneath a small pair of rectangular glasses. She’s dressed in her field-work attire, khaki shorts and green tank-top, with her white lab-coat draped over the back of her chair. She smirks at the two of you as you enter.

“Hope I’m not bothering you by being in my own home.” She teases. You and Daisy both fidget nervously, until her daughter decides to speak up.

“H-how long have you been home, Mother?” She asks sheepishly.

Kimberly gives her a deadpan stare, and replies in a monotone voice. “Ah! Ah! Right there! Yes Red-“

“MOTHER!” Daisy’s shout cuts her off as your face starts to burn.

Kimberly busts out laughing, doubling over in amusement. “You two were really going at it! Didn’t even hear me come in! Hahaha!” You and Daisy are both blushing profusely, you specifically struggling to look at anything that isn’t your feet. You just hope she hasn’t seen-

“And man Red, both my girls in one day?” SHE HAS. SHE KNOWS. “I didn’t think you had it in ya! Way to go kid!” Well, at least she isn’t mad, but this couldn’t get any more emb- “I can’t wait to talk to Madison about this, she’s gonna get a kick out of it!” You physically recoil at the thought of Kimberly and your Mother discussing your sexual exploits, but you know there’s no way to change her mind once it’s made up on something like this. She takes her work extremely seriously, but is a complete goofball at all other times.

“Mother, I think you’re making him uncomfortable.” The younger Oak’s tone is strained, clearly holding back her own irritation. Kimberly responds by poking the bear.

“Red, I’ve never felt so good before!” Kimberly mocks.

“I never said th-“ Daisy attempts to correct her before getting interrupted.

“Knock me up Red, make me a mommy!” Kimberly is just making things up at this point.

“I never said that eith-“ Again, Daisy is cut off.

“I love you Red, mwah mwah mwah!” Her mother can barely speak through her laughter.

“MOTHER, STOP.” The young woman screams in frustration. You’re just standing there, waiting for the shame to end.

Eventually, the older woman’s laughter does die down. She then shakes her head at her daughter. “Daisy, you need to relax. I’m just joking around.” She chides. “Have a little more fun. Well, I guess you just had a lot of fun, actually. So just don’t be so prickly about it, I guess.”

Daisy huffs. “I wouldn’t be so ‘prickly’ if I wasn’t getting teased.” She pouts.

Kimberly rolls her eyes. “If you don’t want to get teased for fucking in my house, get out of my house. But please don’t, it’ll be lonely.” The last bit sounded very… genuine. It makes you wonder how your mother is going to be without you around…

Daisy sighs, then responds. “Let’s just… drop it, ok? It happened, you heard, you teased us, it’s over. Please?”

Her mother laughs again. “Alright, alright. I’m done with you.” After her words to her daughter, you feel her gaze shift to you even as you’re still staring at your shoes. “Look at me, Red.” You snap to attention, meeting her gaze, and are met with a reassuring smile.

“Ms. Kimberly, I-“ You begin.

“How many more times do I have to tell you to call me ‘Kim’?” She interjects.

You gulp before continuing. “Kim, I’m sorry if I disturbed you on your break or anything…” She snorts and shakes her head at your words, before offering her own.

“Look kiddo, you need to calm down. Sounds like you and Daisy had a good time, which she desperately needed.” Daisy purses her lips at this, but says nothing. “And from the video I saw, you didn’t hurt Blue or anything. So we’re good.” Seriously, why did everyone expect you to hurt her!? “Honestly, thank you. Be good to my daughters, both of ‘em, from here on out, and we’ll be golden. Okay?” You nod and smile in relief at Kim’s words, happy to have the air cleared.

Her daughter, however, reacts slightly differently. “He doesn’t need to ‘be good to me’, Mother. I’m-“

“Sweetie, despite getting pissy with me, you’re the happiest I’ve seen you in a long time. Glowing, even. Don’t let go of that, do what makes you happy. For your poor Mama’s sake if nothing else. I worry about you.” Daisy shrinks slightly at her mother’s honestly, and doesn’t reply.

Kim turns back to you. “Probably a lot more we could talk about, but it’s getting to the point where you need to leave now if you wanna reach Viridian by sundown. So unless you plan on completing an Oak hat trick with me and staying the night, you need to get going.” You blink several times in response, wondering how serious she is.

Noticing your reaction, Kim shakes her head. “That was a joke, not an offer. I’m busy. Now get outta here, ya horndog!” She chuckles good-naturedly and makes a shooing motion with her hand at you. You blush and tell her goodbye, walking with Daisy to the front door.

“I’m so sorry about Mother.” Your lovely neighbor says as she opens the door. “She can be so… ugh. Just do your best to ignore her. Good luck on your journey, and try to catch up with my sister quickly!”

You hesitate before exiting, your earlier discussion with Daisy and her mother’s words ringing through your mind. “Daisy, I don’t really know how I should say this… but Kim is right. If you… need me, for anything, whatever, please rely on me. I really care about you too, so don’t hesitate.”

The petite beauty stares up at you with a complicated expression for several moments. She then leans up, catching you in a surprise kiss. You recover swiftly and pull her close, deepening the kiss as you did. The two of you remain like this for a minute before Daisy breaks off and speaks.

“Thank you, Red. Thank you. I will keep that in mind. Now go, before I decide to just keep you here, all to myself! Become the Champion!” Daisy shoves you gently out the door, shutting it behind you. You touch your lips, and it almost feels like hers are still there.

Feeling better than you ever have in your entire life, you march toward Route 1 with renewed vigor. You will be the Champion. For yourself, and everyone who believes in you!

Finally leave Pallet? Or do you get held up again?
