Is Marus right?
Killing Monsters
Mira stepped in the arena with grim confidence. She slung two swords behind her back, and stuck two spears up. She looked in the audience and could feel the demon's eyes on her. She raised her sword in his imaginary direction, and said "As the storm clouds the day, as the thunder heralds the storm, know this: The sun will shine again. No evil lasts forever"
Walks in nothing short of a manticore. This horrible creature with the body of a lion, wings of a bad, tail of a scorpion and face of a man was horrendous. Mira didnt stop to ponder it was highly unlikely that this creature lusted after her, she hurled her spear and pinned it on the ground. She had fought many such a monster, specially wary of its tail she closed in, and chopped its head.
Next came the swirling tentacles. they erupted from the ground, making the paladin fight desperately. She saw many a warrior terminated by this devious attack, she had to keep focused to differentiate feints from real threats and not let her guard down. She chopped left and right, and after a long work out session, she stood in the middle of gore and chopped squid meat. She had won again.
"Is this the best you have?" The paladin taunted, replacing a damaged blade with a double headed axe. "I barely broke a sweat"
It was good that she had picked a heavier weapon, for her next opponent was nothing short of a land shark. The creature had a queratinous armor that protected him from most blows, and a serrated row of teeth that could snap her arm in two. The good part is that it couldnt dive into the ground.
Mira rolled away when the creature lunged, and she had to keep rolling to stay ahead of him. The few blows she gave hurt her arms more than the creature. When she tried to use the spear against it, the shaft broke in half under its weight. Trying to poke its eyes out was also useless. She had been lucky so far, but luck was a fools armor, as her weapons instructor used to tell her.
Then she slip in a pool of manticore blood. Of course, smell. She smeared the liquid over her, and the creature apparently lost sight of her. Not invisible, but almost. It still reacted to sharp movements and sounds. But she was standing right next to it and it couldnt see her. She picked up her battle axe again. still nothing. Raised it. still nothing. And when she descended with all her might, it was too late for the land shark to dodge.
The audience went wild, the blood sports had never been better. Many feared the fuckdoll had her days counted, but unless Marus planned to unleash a dragon on her, it seemed the paladin had won the day.
Mira was bathing in the applause, when another plan occurred her. Marus would perhaps be pleased today. But if she pissed him enough that night, would it be possible to draw him to the arena? The venom of the manticore was one of the deadliest things in the World. she cut the scorpion sting on her way out, before she tossed away her weapons. Now she had a weapon that even he should fear.
How will she do that?
