Kenny And JJ Update

Kenny left his bedroom, leaving Anna behind to finish getting redressed on her own. If there was anything he learned about his new girlfriend so far, it was that they didn't have much in the way of control. Not to mention that Kenny had been burning all his time on this trip so far with just Anna, not that he regretted it for a moment, every second of it was worth it. It was only now that he was feeling a little guilty, his two friends had been taking some major steps of their own. Mindy was now hooking up with Brian, which still caught him off guard, and JJ was hooking up Nicole?! Not that he was overtly surprised over that fact, but Nicole did seem to have a rule about not hooking up with guys in the friend group.

Kenny lightly jogged down the steps to the first floor of the lodge, glancing up and down the hallway until he heard some chatter coming from the den. He headed in through the doorway and found Nicole and JJ laid back on the couch watching a movie. The redhead glanced over and gave Kenny a sly smile while lifting her head off of JJ's shoulder, "Well, well, well, if it isn't the killer himself," She teased, "Is poor Anna still alive up there or did the dehydration finally take her out?"

"What?" Kenny replied with a light laugh, "What is that even supposed to mean,"

"It means you two have been like jackrabbits," Nicole clarified with a wink, "Very impressive Clark, I do know how to pick them for her," Nicole smoothly got to her feet and walked by Kenny, "I suppose I should go up there and check on her, make sure she's still in one piece...maybe bring her an energy drink...something," Nicole thought aloud before slipping out of the room, deciding to give the boys a few minutes on their own.

"She is...always something else," Kenny muttered to JJ with a small shake of his head,

"You have no idea," JJ returned with a grin of his own before putting his hands behind his head and kicking his legs up on the coffee table, "So...it seems my little student has graduated my class with five stars,"

"You know I don't think I'd call you a teacher," Kenny hummed back as he walked further in, crashing down on a recliner, "Maybe more like...moral support in the beginning,"

"Uh-huh, so me coaching on how to act with Anna and saving you with the omelet breakfast didn't help your chances at all?" JJ asked back with a dismissive tone before letting out a wide smile, "Actually you're right, I shouldn't take all the credit, Nicole seemed to have her hands deeper in this than I did,"

"I don't know what she did for Anna, and honestly I don't want to know, all I care about is that the beautiful blonde girl sharing my bed with me is mine now," Kenny clarified with a hearty laugh before sighing,

"Pretty great isn't it?" JJ easily asked back, seeing just how high in the clouds his friend was soaring right now,

"It is man, I don't know, I always had this pipe dream about Anna. She was like that fable girl a guy always dreams about getting, and somehow, I got her!" Kenny exclaimed with a toss of his hands, "Everything she says or does I just...love. I can't wait to spend the rest of this trip with her, and I'm even more excited when we get to go around together, where I can show off that me, Kenny Clark, am dating Anna Ross,"

"Dude, I'm really happy for you, honest to God. I always knew you'd find yourself a girl, but you found a real diamond with Anna," JJ began to say,

"I'm sensing a but here," Kenny replied while leaning forward with some interest,

"But," JJ said with a nod, "You're entering the next stage of this and honestly, it's a tougher, defining moment" The teenager began with a thoughtful look, "Learning to be in a relationship with someone isn't easy, and it's not something anyone can help you with. You decide how it works, what effort you put into it, and who you are as a person. Do you take the road to shape your future with them or enjoy the fun while you have it and move on in time?"

"Jesus that's fucking heavy, James," Kenny retorted with a few quick blinks, "We only started dating a few hours ago, I can't figure out my future with Anna already, I'd look like a lunatic!"

JJ let out a loud laugh, "Not what I really meant, I was saying it figuratively," JJ clarified as he too sat up and leaned forward, "What I really meant is, you need to decide just how serious you want this to be. It's not something you decide overnight mind you, but being in a fully committed relationship is way different than just hooking up with a girl and calling her your girlfriend for a few months," The jock attempted to explain as simply as he could, "Not saying that it's bad if you don't want this to be something you intend on having for a long ass time, just something to keep in the back of your head,"

"So basically, do I date Anna with the intention of this staying for a long time or do I pull a Brian and hook up with her until someone else catches my eye?" Kenny frowned, feeling a bit frustrated by the question posed to him,

"Not exactly," JJ denied with ease, "I'd hope you'd never go a "Brian" route with any girl. But take me for instance," The teen said with a quick motion to himself, "I've been with a few girls throughout high school, they were all great girls but they just didn't work out for us. We broke up a few went easier than others but we never had any bad blood over it. There is no shame in accepting something that doesn't work out,"

"Holy crap, JJ, you are bumming me the fuck out here," Kenny groaned with a toss of his hands, "I just got my first girlfriend and you're already talking about us not working out?"

JJ gave his head a slow shake with a bittersweet smile, "You'll understand what I'm talking about eventually," He calmly said before clearing his throat, "So...not a virgin anymore, eh?" He easily flipped over to with a grin growing ear to ear,

Kenny felt his body release the growing tension and he laughed, "Uh, yeah, I think I kissed that goodbye a while ago now...honestly, I forget what it even felt like at this point,"

"Nicole wasn't kidding, pace yourself there brother, you'll end up knocked out on the floor if you're not careful," JJ jokingly responded,

"Oh you're telling me that? You're the one hooking up with Nicole Moore, that chick is going to kill you," Kenny shot back causing JJ to roll his eyes,

"I'm not hooking up with Nicole Moore, relax," He scoffed, "We fooled around a little, it was her idea, not mine,"

"So what, that one blowjob was it?" Kenny dismissively asked back,

JJ ran a hand over his mouth and then pushed his over his buzzed hair, "I don't know anything for sure, and yeah, I probably won't deny anything if we do, but going steady...not my thing. Nicole is awesome but we wouldn't click,"

"Guess there are worse things than being friends with benefits with Nicole Moore," JJ chuckled at the response and nodded, "Pretty crazy about Mindy and Brian though, huh?"

JJ's smile slowly faded away until his entire face was tightened in irritation, "Yeah, about that...I don't like it,"

"Like what?" Kenny asked with a confused tilt of his head, "Mindy and Brian?"

"You and I both know Brian, and we both are Mindy's friends, you know as well as I do, he's not good for her," JJ firmly stated, "He'll get into her head, shake it around, and mess her up to the point we don't even recognize her anymore,"

"I don't know, she seemed pretty happy to me," Kenny replied, rubbing his neck a bit uncomfortably, "Plus, Brian is changing from his old ways, and Mindy deserves to have the freedom to go after whatever guy she wants, right?"

"Tigers don't change their stripes, Kenny," JJ fired back, "Brian is a player, that's in his blood, he's only using Mindy as a means to an end. I'd stake my life on it," The jock continued, his blood starting to boil at the thought of Mindy and Brian together, his blonde friend using her for her looks and then tossing her aside like garbage,

"Did you try talking to her about this?" Kenny asked with an uncertain look, it was rare for JJ to get so fired up over something like this, "If you really think it's in her best interest, maybe telling her this would get her to push Brian off,"

"I tried, but she didn't want to hear it," JJ muttered as he crossed his arms, "She couldn't see I was only trying to look out for her,"

"Can I offer you some advice now?" Kenny asked causing JJ's eyes to flick up, meeting his gaze, "If you...have something you want to tell Mindy...I'd make sure you tell her straight. She's not good with vague, on the nose talk,"

"What are you trying to say?" JJ asked, his eyes slightly narrowing,

"Nothing, nothing at all," Kenny quickly replied, holding up his hands defensively, "All I'm saying is telling Mindy what you think, what you honestly think, could go a long way," He said once more, giving his eyebrows a slow raise as he spoke, silently giving JJ a knowing gesture, "You never know how things could change from there,"

"Yeah...I'll try to keep that in mind, Ken," JJ muttered, annoyed that even Kenny seemed to be buying into his idea that he only cared about Mindy and Brian because he himself wanted Mindy. It was crazy, just because he knew a guy wasn't good for her didn't mean that he thought he was that guy. JJ paused his thoughts for a moment, okay maybe he could be a good guy for her, but that's not what he was trying to say here at all, "Dude, I need to eat, are you hungry?" JJ abruptly asked while jumping to his feet, removing the thoughts from his head as quickly as he could,

"Actually, I am starved, let's go see what we can cook up," Kenny agreed, almost thankful to be out of this conversation with JJ now,

"Sweet, let's go," JJ hummed back, walking out of the den, searching his mind a few times, starting to finally wonder just why he was so caught up on Mindy Long.
