Keep up the ruse

"Well, can we speak in private? I have some questions for you," you say assertively, hoping your confidence is enough to fool Pammy into thinking you're still in control even though your rings have no effect on her.

"...fine. Let's go to-" Pammy is about to lead you somewhere else, when the old librarian from downstairs, Mrs Robertson, comes walking down the aisle in search of Pammy.

"There you are. Yes, this young man's here for your aunt. But we're about to close. I need you to go around and get the students to leave, and get all the books back in the shelves. You can socialize after the library is closed," the old lady says, disregarding you completely before she's marching away to see to other library business.

Pammy rolls her eyes in annoyance. "Ugh. I need to get back to work. Let's talk later, I should be out of here in an hour. Can you wait?"

"Sure," you respond.

"Okay. You know where the old gazebo is?" Pammy asks.

"Yup." You know what Pammy is referring to. There's an old gazebo on the outskirts of the school's campus which sort of stands by itself. It's actually located on the grounds of the campus, next to the forest, but over time, the forest has grown into the campus grounds and now the gazebo is surrounded by trees. When you were a student, you remember going out there a couple of times, mostly to get some peace and quiet, although you have admit you wouldn't be caught there at night where there was no light. Actually, the gazebo was a part of more than a few ghost stories on campus, and is often a place for students to gather on Halloween night.

"Great, I'll meet you there in an hour," Pammy says, going back to her duties as a librarian, while you shuffle out of the library.
