"Now, the partner choices we have for you. There is Gavin Brady. He is a recent graduate of our local college, having attended for engineering. He has a promising future ahead of him and has been a pillar of our youth community for quite a while. Quarterback of the football team, prom king, etc... He graduated at the top of his class in college as well. He could be an excellent fit for any young woman in town, but we believe you could fit to him nicely."

"Because you'll make me?" I asked. "Turn me into his perfect little wife?"

Ideally, we would need to do very little. The process you've undergone would handle everything itself, and you would escape mostly you, mentally. If necessary, yes... we would step in. But that would be a last resort, even beyond your would be husband issuing commands to forcibly mold you."

"What? That's a thing?!" I asked, scandalized. Some creepy Stepford guy could just order me to be some perfect little girl for him?

"It is, but Gavin does not seem the type. Barring exceptional circumstance, of course. Your other choice is Zack Reece. He is older, 54. His wife recently passed and he decided to move here for a fresh start. He, unlike Gavin, would likely opt to issue some commands to speed along the process."

"Why would I ever pick him?"

"A good question," Mrs. Warren said. "In all honesty, me offering you a choice is a kindness I don't believe you truly deserve. So the truth is this: I am giving you 24 hours. Behave during that time, and I will allow you to make your choice. You can select Gavin, who will in all likelihood be a kind and loving husband to you and leave you largely unchanged. If you don't, then I can assign you to Zack, who will be all too happy to have a young, beautiful wife."

"24 hours? I don't need to pick now?"

"You could, if you wanted to surprise me. A large part of me expects you to take the time, plan some sort of escape, and end up right back here and soon on your way to Zack's home. Choosing now would show some level of acceptance, and I would respect you for it."
