Katerina wakes up in the forest

Katerina openned her eyes, and stood up, not without difficulties. HApart from the buzzing from the hive of wasps, her surroundings were calm, the pack of hounds was nowhere to be seen. The young woman did not try her luck, and took her chance to flee from here. The adrenaline slowly decreasing in her body, she felt a strong headache, forcing her to grad her head while grimacing on her way back to the farm. She didn't know how long she laid back there on the floor, but the sun started to slowly go down, so unless she slept for more than 24h, which was very unlikely, she wasn't missing for very long.

Once she finally arrived home, her family wasn't here, but she found a note and the table :

" Sorry Kate, we couldn't find you but the Richards phoned us, their barn crumbled and they need help to rebuild it, your sister came with us to see David, you know her.. Well, we'll be back in few days. Don't worry about the farm, you can slack a bit while you're alone as is it so sudden. Dinner's in the fridge, love you. - Mom"

Katerina sighs, unable to tell her misadventure to her family, but she felt too sick to really get sad of her situation. She sat on the sofa, then had an instinct though of touching her neck, where the wasp stung her. At the exact spot the insect hit her, her neck was swollen. A lump the size of a coin in width was here. To the touch, it felt like it was filled with some sort a liquid. It was enough for Katerina to start getting worried, maybe was she doing some sort of allergic reaction to the poison ? She told herself she will keep an eye on it, to see how it evolves, as her headache felt too strong to deal with it now.

Katerina was back at her house for an hour now, and the pain was almost gone. Moreover, she felt calmer every minute, almost like she high or something... Her condition worried her but a wave of calm washed away the though. Then, she felt it. Some sort of presence with her. Not in house, but inside of her. Something was trying to communicate. Without thinking of it, she put her hand on the lump the wasp let on her neck. It was already getting harder, was it healing ? But right when she started to feel better, she felt something move under the lump. Katerina freaked out, wandering what it was, but it didn't last, as another wave of calm enfoled her mind, doing immediate effect on her mood. She noticed this weird feeling without questionning it at first, but something was off. She didn't control this, someone, or something else did. Then she realised. Maybe the wasps weren't has harmless as we though ? Those hounds, they were parasited right ? But we were told the insects couldn't infected large animals... What if they were wrong ?! Oh god, please be right about this... If not, it would be disastrous for her, she though. But again, the fear didn't last for long. This time it was much clearer.

And Katerina finally understood, she was infected.
