Chapter 6 by Eismann Eismann

What's next?

Just my goddamn luck

'Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!', Flinch cursed himself as he ran towards the cave. He had gotten comfortable in the forest and cave. So comfortable that he even went out during the day. "Get him, quick, before he alarms his tribe!", he heard a female voice yell behind him. 'A Paladin!? A fucking Paladin are you fucking kidding me? With a Cleric too?!', Flinch couldn't believe how unlucky he was. They had seen him retrieving a rabbit from a trap and chased after him. The cave was his only chance.

The two women were close behind him. Clerics were common and varied greatly in strength, but Paladins were always trouble. Strong warriors blessed by gods and given supernatural abilities. Flinch wound have breathed sigh of relief when he saw the cave entrance if he wasn’t already tearing his lungs apart. He shot inside like green lightning and finally was embraced by the dark. He ran down some tunnels and hid.

“He went inside the cave.”, he heard a female voice echoing through the cave system, “Cleric, make some light so we can hunt this monster down.”. ‘That must be the Paladin’, Flinch thought. Her voice was strong and confident but not unkind. “I-Is that a good idea Astra? The whole tribe might be inside…”, the other voice was weaker, the woman seemed exhausted from sprinting. “Don’t worry Valery, I am a Paladin. Paladins are equivalent to an A-Tier adventurer. Even a whole tribe of goblins couldn’t take me down.”, the Paladin, Astra apparently, calmed the Cleric down. “Fine, my light will guide us!”, Valery said with more confidence in her voice.

‘Fantastic, what a nice team.’, Flinch thought sarcastically. He had to think and quickly. He knew that monsters left a taint that powerful individuals, holy people especially, could sense and follow. Even though they didn’t know the cave, they would find him soon.
