Chapter 2
by Tython
Who are you and how did you get in?
Just lucky to be here
Adam didn't want to call it luck. Sure, his chances of being accepted into the vault were slim. But by mere chance was he inspecting his room when the bombs fell. And with so many souls erased in an instant, it seemed almost insulting to say he got lucky.
His new home was surprisingly nice. Adam was expecting the bare minimum; a lousy bed, a crappy sink, and a stained toilet. Instead he had a fully furnished abode. A living space big enough to host any kind of party. A kitchen with an oven, stove, dish washer, fridge, even a pantry. The dining area even had a table with eight chairs. As if he host a gathering of so many people. His bedroom was enormous, a bed bigger than his own back home. Despite its size there was still plenty of space left in the room. No awkward maneuvering here. All this with a walk in closet and full bathroom connecting the bedroom to the living room. The shower was so large it could hold three people and none would feel cramped or crowded.
Adam was shocked at how much better it was, but it was a bitter sweet experience. Did the world really have to end just for him to have an excessive home such as this? Obviously not, but there must be a reason such a decent living space was assigned to him. Or perhaps it wasn't meant for him. Maybe there was a mistake and he got the room of someone important.
His thoughts were interrupted by a knock on his door. Adam considered leaving it alone. He wasn't exactly in the mood for guests. But it might be something important. A second knock sounded. Adam had a feeling they'd keep knocking until answered. So with a sigh, Adam made way to the door. Opening it via electric switch, Adam wasn't expecting anyone in particular, but this particular person was still a surprise.
Who comes calling?
