Chapter 2 Alternate Route 1 – Melody

It was a bit later in the day as his group was gathering supplies in the market that he ran into a familiar face. “Hello, Melody was it?” He asked offering a friendly smile.

“I’m surprised you remembered me, I didn’t think I’d made that big of an impression.”

“I considered you, even if I ended up going with a different pick for my party.” He explained. “It was a close call.”

She smiled, flashing her white teeth. “Well you know, I could always sweeten the deal if there’s a chance I could change your mind.”

He couldn’t help smiling in return, “I can’t promise anything, but I’ll hear your proposal.”

She glanced around the room to ensure they were alone; they were in a small shop that sold tools for maintaining a variety of equipment. “There’s an inn just a little ways down the street.” She informed him. “We could go there right now, and you could have your way with me. And when we’re on the road, I’d let you do the same any time we have sufficient privacy.”

Kaylen blushed. He’d anticipated something like this, but hadn’t expected her to be quite so forward or direct. “That’s a tempting offer.”

“I thought you’d like it.” She moved closer, clearly drawing Kaylen’s attention to her lithe slender body.

“I’m willing to bring you along, but I’m not going to replace anyone on my existing roster.” He informed her, and she frowned.

“I’m not making this offer just to play second fiddle.” She growled.

“Then I guess we won’t be working together.” He stated simply, and gave a courteous bow, before turning to the exit.
