Background:

Jonathan was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and as the heir apparent of the Grenville father, and the future head of the five families. He attended the best private schools and was always priased as he seemed to excel in all areas. Being the eldest son from an early age he was made aware of the pact with the Demon King Belphegor, and in addition to his studies of business and industry learned of the occult.

At the age of eighteen he was brought into the pact officially with the sacrifice of a business rival of his father’s. Jonathan has since taken a lead role in ensuring the pact is maintained and those who are brought in are fitting.

He recognized that his younger brother, Jacob, was a natural follower and as such a valuable piece to be used in life, especially if he was allowed to join the pact. So he petitioned the family to bring Jacob in which they allowed.

Jonathan discussed the ritual with his best friend William Wallace II, and since he would be away at the time it was decided to bring in Amber and Scooter to help with the ritual.

During college Jonathan also became engaged to Martha Crowley, who had also been part of the pact, ensuring the five families unity. Martha however is disgusted by the sacrifices and avoids participating in any of them since joining the pact himself.
