John (ring of affirmation)

Hello, my name is John, I'm a school outcast with no friends whom everyone treats like trash, even my father treats me like dirt and would prefer I was never born because he blames me for my mother's death. The only one who treats me like a human being is this strange old man with no left eye who breeds ravens - even for me he's a weirdo, but I like talking to him because he's the only person who wants to talk to me

Today is my eighteenth birthday but no one cares. I even got beaten up again at school by Greg and his gang. Coming back from school, I noticed my only friend who was weirder than me. When he saw me, he smiled and said that he was waiting for me, and called his raven, which brought a gold ring in its beak. He handed it to me, saying it was my birthday present, and explained to me that it was a magic ring and how it worked. I didn't believe him at first, but he told me to test it.

I did as he said and put the ring on my left hand and asked "is the sky red?" he said with a laugh that he did and to my horror I noticed that the sky had actually turned red - I quickly fixed this by asking again if the sky was blue. Now knowing that the ring works, I thanked the old man and decided to take revenge on those who hurt me.
