Janissa comes from a small Elven family in the High Elf Capital of Mythandria, on the biggest island of the Elven Islands of Kalidell. At the age of 4, she picked up her first bow, learning how to string one from her mother. At 10, she made her first successful hunting trip with her family, scoring a kill on a large migration bird. At 25, she joined the Kalidell Rangers Guild, where she further honed her archery, as well as her incredible speed and agility. During that time, she honed the skill of climbing trees, buildings, and other obstacles; as well as mastering the art of making bows and arrows of all kinds. For a century, she served the Rangers Guild, either defending Kalidell from enemy forces, scouting for enemy intelligence, or negotiating with others.

All seemed smooth sailing for Janissa, until a very evil sect of Dark Elves from Arachnaea attacked Kalidell. Their attacks were very savage, fueled by centuries of hate for their light-skinned counterparts, and left many, including her family, dead. For five years, she mourned the loss of her family, with only the Rangers Guild left to give her solace. That's when she decided to set off on her own, voluntarily leaving the guild when military spending had to be cut in order for the government to finish the rebuilding process, and sailed for Grand Europa.

Unlike Cesar, Janissa freelanced on her own, doing odd mercenary work here and there, while adjusting to working and living in urban areas. Her freelance work led her to the Great Sulphur Wastelands, where she ran into Cesar. The rest is history.
