Chapter 5 by Vain Vain

Will that be enough to earn her stay...?

It will do, for now

"Well..." You pretend to think it over for a while, and smile to yourself a little as you can see the poor human girl squirming in anticipation while she awaits your decision.

At first you had some interesting ideas when you offered her to work for your village, but now that you look her over you're starting to have some second thoughts about that as well.

In fact you find her just a bit too scrawny for carrying children yet, although she's supposedly well above age by human standards, and currently that's about the only thing you'd really want to keep someone of her kind around for. So the answer should of course had been a simple 'no' in the first place', but the more you think about it, the more you like the idea of keeping her around for a while.

A human disciple, willing to follow your every whim, would be more than enough to raise your status within both your own and any neighboring tribes. It would somehow justify all the years you spent in training yourself, especially if you could train such a weak young female to become a competent fighter in her own right.

And if you feed her well, she just might even become a more valuable asset to your own household after all...

"Yes, that will do." You finally tell her, and enjoy the look of hope return to her young cute visage once more.

"On one more condition...!" You add, before she's shuffled back to her feet again, and send one quick glance at the guards and few villagers that's come to watch your strange ordeal with this scrawny captive. "You'll be living and sleeping in my quarters, and will only be carrying a blade in my presence. Is that understood?"

"Y-yes, my lord!" The girl named Alani quickly agrees to your terms, although you doubt that she fully understands the reason to these rules. But this way you will be able and keep an eye on her at all times, not just for your own sake, but even more for her own. The reason she's not allowed to carry a blade without your permission is based on very much the same idea, as right now it would indeed be more dangerous to herself than to most of your tribesmen.

"We've got an agreement then!" You smile at her, and then reach out with your hand to help her up from the ground, while also sealing the deal by human customs.

Of course, the rest of your clan doesn't fully understand what they've just bore witness to, but you're fairly certain that you'll be able and explain it to them in short. The problem is just how to put it in words for them, and how you will explain the girl's ranking within the tribe.

Hierarchy is a very important thing withing goblin society after all, and not everyone would happily accept a complete stranger, and a human at that, to have any status higher than '****', 'toy', or 'food'...

So what will you tell the tribe? And what else would the girl need to know about it?
