It is definitely safer to just follow the path. You sigh and head towards the opening.

You step through the opening in the hedges, which leads into a small clearing. Several other paths lead out from this place and deeper into the shrubbery; the plants around you seem to form a maze of sorts, winding every which way and disappearing into the foliage. There are three paths available - one straight ahead, and one each on your left and right. The paths seem identical, save for the color blossoms growing around them - the left has pink flowers growing around it, the right purple, and the front blue. There doesn't seem to be much else to differentiate the paths...
