It goes much better then the tea cups.

The ride started off, as they often do, with a jerk...then slowly leaving the boarding area. "...we're pretty high up," Mai noted, glancing down. I gently pulled her head away. "You REALLY don't want to do that," I warned. Scoffing, Mai rolled her eyes. "John, I'm not afraid of heights," she insisted. Personally, I didn't think she was...but it's still not wise to do.

When I didn't respond, Mai turned to me to say something else...and that's when we started upward. That huge slope that comes first. Mai paused, perhaps taking notice of the near vertical method in which we were moving. Vertical travel was very much unthinkable in her time. At least, THIS method of it.

Just as we reached the top, the roller coaster slowed, coming to a halt with a "tssst..." Mai was silent a moment. "John, are we stu..." she began to ask before the ride resumed, going down. Mai didn't scream. Instead she gripped the safety bar, muscles locking up.

About halfway through the ride, we began a slow climb again. "You okay?" I asked Mai. Her chest was heaving. She looked at me with wide eyes before nodding. "I think I..." Once again, Mai was unable to finish her sentence. We went down again, faster this time. A few loops and we finally returned to the boarding area.

As the safety bar lifted, I got out first, turning to help Mai out. She gripped my hand tight as she climbed out, a slight wobble in her step. "...was that too much?" I asked, hoping I hadn't fucked up again.

Mai shook her head. "...that was the third most fun thing I have ever done in my life," she whispered, amazed at her own enjoyment. We walked away from the ride slowly. "Oh? What were the first two?" I asked. Mai's eyes twinkled. "I think you know, John." She kissed my cheek. "I think you know..."

So...what now? Another ride? Or should I introduce her to something else? Like cotton candy? Or hot dogs?
