It goes fine.

Breakfast goes by without much happening. You and your family eat scrambled eggs and toast, chatting about the day to come and the troubles it will no doubt bring.

Your father talks about him going back to the office. He works a nine-to-five office job at some company that sells computers or something. (You really don't remember) He's had some trouble with a co-worker that was Un-shifted when The Great Shift happened. This guy is still in his own body and is really smug about it. He's been harassing your father lately. Your dad doesn't say how, but you suspect that the **** is sexual. There's been a lot of that going on in the wake of The Great Shift. Some people just can't help themselves.

Your mother has been having a hard time, though not as bad as Dad. She's been trying to re-assemble her old book club. Many of the members haven't been seen since The Great Shift and many of the ones she can find are focused on other matters. In fact, she only has two other members; other moms who have been shifted into the bodies of a married couple from down the street. Mom just says that "meetings are awkward" and doesn't elaborate. Your imagination makes up the rest.

Your sister is oddly quiet this morning. She too is Un-shifted and despite still having her birth body, she's not having any easier of a time adjusting to all this as the rest of you. The people who she grew up with, who raised her, suddenly have all new faces and voices. It's been hard on everyone. And it sure doesn't help that all three of the new faces were very attractive ones. More than once, you've seen your sister staring at your behind out of the corner of your eye. You can't blame her, really. Your butt is pretty nice. You guess.

You also don't have much to say. Your return to school has been rough. Many teachers haven't been able to return to teaching and many of the students are in bodies not suited to the school in which they attend. Furthermore, your best friend Hank has been AWOL ever since The Great Shift and you are really worried about him. You check our usual hang-out spots every day but so far there's no sign of him or anyone who says they're him. Maybe today you'll get lucky. Who knows.

Soon enough, the family finishes up and gets ready to leave the house for your respective daily routines. As you leave the house, you wonder...
