It Doesn't Go Well !

"Who the bloody 'ell's that ?" a coarse woman's voice rang out from the other side of the door. "Tyson, shut the fuck up" followed in response to the intimidating barking of what sounded like a particularly aggressive dog. A harrassed looking bottle blonde of a similar age to Carol opened the door, stooping to hold a slathering bull terrier by the collar. "We we don't want any, we won't vote for you, we don't know Jesus. Select whichever applies and bugger off" the woman said.

Carol refused to be intimidated. "No, it's none of those. I'm looking for Kayleigh Sanders ?" she began, trying to be as neutral as possible. "Kayleigh" the woman bellowed. "Some snooty bitch here asking for you." Carol had never been accused of being snooty before. She and her family were just a normal working family. Still, everything's relative she thought, looking at what she was confronted with. A surly looking 'mini me' version of her mother appeared behind the frantic Tyson. "Er, could we talk without the dog ?" Carol suggested. "Chuck him out the back" the mother told Kayleigh, tacitly admitting that whatever it was that Carol wanted, they were going to have to discuss it.

"So, what d'yer want ?" The discussion resumed with Tyson a distant barking presence out the back. Carol started to explain the purpose of her mission. It didn't go well !

"Yeah, I can see the resemblance. Same snooty airs, think they're better than us."

"What are you accusing my girl of ?"

"We don't do nothing, it's all just a bit of fun. Can't help it is she's such a silly cow."

And so on, around in circles. The Sanders family obviously had no intention of backing down. Those that had been hanging around when Carol arrived had gravitated to the path behind her and were now forming quite a crowd. There was their local reputation to maintain !

"You're leaving me with no alternative but to go to the authorities" Carol said finally. "Oh, so now you're threatening us are you ?" accused Mrs. Sanders. "If you want to put it like that" replied Carol. "I've had enough of this" announced Mrs. Sanders. "Shall we bag her ?" she asked, turning to her daughter. "Let's do it" Kayleigh agreed !
