A black screen, until…

A chibi version of Serena peeks in from one side. “Oh, you’re here, you’re here! Yay!” She runs in from the side and grabs hold of the camera, jumping up and down. “I’m so happy you agreed to be a Contestant! And soon you will be, too, my dear, because welcome to Harem Heroes!”

Chibi Serena steps to the side with a flourish, revealing a drone shot of a massive tower, made into the shape of an ‘H’ and standing proudly atop an island. As the drone circles the tower, Chibi Serena narrates, “This, right here, is the Harem Tower, and it’s going to be your home for the next 100 days! Yay! It’s such a nice home! It’s got everything!”

The screen blurs showing an interior pool, “A heated pool!” The screen blurs again, showing a dimly lit theatre, “A movie theatre!” Blurring again, it focuses on a massive training area filled with weights, “A training room! And oh so much more!” The screen blurs again and again, showing glimpses of room after room, until Chibi Serena hops in front of the camera again, saying “But the best thing of all it has is…”

With a drum roll for anticipation, Chibi Serena hops back and to the side, revealing an image of Nate Hawkins. “The Master! Oooh! Aaah! Look at him,” Chibi Serena draws a pink heart in midair around the image, “Isn’t he so dreamy!”

“And you get the chance to be in his harem! Lucky you! But wait, that’s not all!”

The screen blurs again, settling on a cartoonish representation of a Tyrranid. “Those big, nasty Tyrranids are giving you trouble, right? Well I think it’s time someone took the trouble to them!

“That’s right, we’re going to get you the chance to fight back against the big meanies! The opportunity to kick their butts right off your world! Hmph!” Chibi Serena takes up the entirety of the screen again with a huff.

“That’s right, we’re basically giving away superpowers! For free, no money necessary.”

Then Chibi Serena gets a little bit of a sly look on her face, “Well, maybe not exactly free, per se, depending on your definition. Let me break it down for you!”

With a snap the screen changes into childish, but accurately drawn images in multiple colors. First it depicts a man and six women. “Alright, so the Master and his Harem will be living together in the tower, right?”

“And during this blissful harem life, you’re expected to get up to all kinds of shenanigans, preferably the sexy kind!” The image shows some almost slapstick caricatures of accidental sexy moments, like the master accidentally walking in on someone showering, or one of the girls falling on top of the master and landing with her breasts in his face.

“And that’s great, and all! But that’s not really how the game is played. No! To win Harem Heroes, you need to get Victory Points!” A giant ‘VP’ is drawn across the screen.

Chibi Serena sticks her face back on screen, “Now I hear you asking, my little heroes-to-be, how do I get these Victory Points? Well, it’s simple! There’s two main ways to score!”

With a line bisecting the screen the left side is filled with an image of a girl kissing the master on the cheek, “The first way is to please the Master! Kiss him, cook him food, give him a massage, or get down and dirty with it, anything works, as long as the Master is pleased! Though do note that repeating a method won’t earn any points past the first time, so you got to get creative and daring, my girls!”

The right half of the screen is then scribbled in with an image of a girl in combat with a shadowy figure, “The second way is to succeed in Challenges! And for a Harem of Heroes, Challenges means beat the bad guys! That’s right, Villains!”

The screen changes to a shadowy figure with sharp sunglasses for eyes, “Every week, a new villain will enter the city, looking to cause mayhem and havoc. And it’s your job to stop them. But they won’t just attack willy nilly, no!” The image wipes away, replaced by a broken heart. “That wouldn’t leave any time for sexy times! And the audience wants sexy times!”

The image changes again to display a ten-day period, with the first three darkened. “Instead, starting after your third day in the tower, Villains will have up to seven days to trigger a challenge! They’ll know the nature of the challenge going into, because those evil Villains are always plotting and scheming, but you Heroes will have to figure it out on the fly! For Justice!”

“After the challenge, you’ll have another three-day buffer window, and then the villains will have until day twenty to trigger the next challenge! Then day thirty, and so on and so forth, you get it, right?”

Chibi Serena hops back on screen, “But Serena, I hear you saying, we don’t have superpowers! How can we fight back?”

Serena’s grin turns into a naughty smirk, “Well, let’s talk about Powers and Transformations!” She smacks the camera, sending the image spinning until it focuses back on a blank white screen.

“Now, as most of our viewers will know, our Contestants, or Heroes in this season’s case, will receive a potentially life-changing transformation on their first day and after every challenge. They’ll be offered three possible transformations, and audience vote will decide which one they walk away with!” The letters A, B, and C appear on screen, followed by scribbles mimicking words.

“That’s the way it normally works. But this season, things get a little more complicated. Bear with me, please.”

Chibi Serena appears on screen pointing to the letter A. “When you get a transformation, you are given a superpower alongside it. And each transformation,” she points to B, then C, “Has a linked superpower. Now, sorry, girlies, but you Heroes won’t be able to see the linked transformations,” Chibi Serena makes an exaggerated frown. “But don’t worry! Both the audience and your Master can~!” The image changes to show an image of Nate, again outlined by a pink heart. “And each round, you can ask the Master for his suggestion on your transformation! He can’t outright tell you the transformation, but maybe if you take his advice you’ll get a really cool power? Or maybe he’s just perving on ya! Silly Master!”

“Anyways, if you girls get transformations and powers, then the Master should get something, too, right? And he will!” A cartoonishly buff body and laser eyes are drawn on Nate’s image, “Each transformation round, the Master will collect a boon and a linked superpower! The boons will help him handle everything the Harem needs and keep on going!”

Chibi Serena Pops back into view. “And that’s pretty much it! The rest of the show is as normal. Ladies, your goal is to get to 100 VP before the end of the season. If you do, you get a big reward! And you get to stay a part of the Harem and keep your superpowers! What a dream!

“If you don’t make it to 100 VP before the end of the season, though,” Chibi Serena frowned, “Then you’ll be stuck in a subservient role, based on how well you did. End in the nineties and maybe you’ll just be the sexy maid for the harem, but drop too low…” Chibi Serena shivered, “Trust me, you don’t want to be too low.”

“The last and final thing,” Serena said, perking back up, “Is your secondary resource. Here at Harem Heroes, we don’t’ use money, instead we use Bonus Points, BP! You earn BP through a number of ways, but the most reliable way is through the popularity poll. During each transformation round, the audience votes on who their favorite Hero is, and the higher your popularity, the more points you get!”

“So that’s it! That’s the game! I’m so excited you’re joining us on this wonderful season of Harem Hotel: Harem Heroes Edition!”

With that, Chibi Serena bowed, and the video was over.

Nate leaned back in the couch. That… was a lot to take in.

Serena allowed him to ponder a moment, to gather his thoughts, then asked, “Do you have any questions, Master?”

Nate sighed. Massaging his glabella, he collected his thoughts. After another moment, he held up three fingers, “Yeah I’ve got three of them.

“Firstly, how did you possibly get any women to agree to be a part of a harem for me? Is it just a bunch of people planning to sell their body to me to gain superpowers?

“Secondly, I feel like you really breezed through the transformation, victory point, and bonus point explanations. Is there any extra information I can get on those that would help me?

“Lastly, what’s your role in all this. Are you a part of the harem?”

Serena raised a finger. “I can assure you that the main driving **** for joining your harem was not the superpower for each of the Contestants.”

She raised a second. “I will explain in more detail each system as they become relevant to the players.”

And finally a third. “I am not part of your harem, no.”

Nate stared at her blankly before giving up and deciding that was all he was going to get out of Serena. He sighed and leaned his head back. “You were a lot more talkative on that video, ya’know? Why aren’t you that open in real life?”

“I had a script, Master.”

Another sigh, “Yeah, of course. So am I gonna know these women at all? Or did you just pick up whoever was **** enough off the street to agree to your wacky terms?”

“Of course not, Master. Master has a personal connection with every single client.”

Wait. Something clicked in Nates mind, causing him to sit ramrod straight.

He stared at Serena for a moment, then narrowed his eyes. “Six Heroes… You didn’t…”

“I see Master has been reading ahead,” Serena replied, turning away from him and back toward the television screen, “Then I shall go ahead and introduce you to the Contestants.”

Nate rose to his feet, rage building, “Now wait just one fucking-.”
