Chapter 61 by takacube
Who does Saunders discuss?
It's your mom
"Your mom's recent test results came back."
Saunders noticed the glance that the three of you exchanged with each other and decided that it was best not to continue, instead pulling out the folder and placing it on the table. "This is for your father to read. As for the three of you, I'll give you the summary breakdown." He adjusted his glasses, whether for need or dramatic effect, you didn't know but either way, you hated the guy for doing it. "Your mom's going to need you."
Of the many things that he could've said that would've triggered some sort of response, those words weren't it. David, for a bit, just stared blankly at him, as if he were waiting for the good doctor's head to split and an alien monster emerge to bite his head off. Tabitha, well, she wasn't too far behind. You, in the meantime, pondered the prospect of watching his head melt ala Indiana Jones. The three of you, absent any reaction, must've caused Saunders a bit of momentary confusion as he cleared his throat and looked at you. "Sorry, did I say something alarming?"
"No, not really. We're just not expecting that." You nudged David who nodded the same. "Please, explain."
"Your mom's...particular actions, they haven't gone unnoticed to you, yes?"
"That's putting it mildly," Tabitha remarked, eye rolling.
"Yes, quite understandable. But, anyway, the point is, her brain's undergoing a massive internal struggle. Essentially the part that is Jennifer Conners is fighting with the part that is Amber. A battle of wits, memories, even chemicals to be precise." He sighed and looked at the three of you. "Your dad's been told about it but since he's working overseas at the moment, you three are going to be the ones to take care of this matter."
You looked at your siblings. "What do you mean 'Take care'? What can we do for her?"
What's next?

The Ultimate Transplant
Someone you know is given a new body & life
PLEASE ADD CHAPTERS! A close friend or family member is horribly injured in an accident. As they lay dying in the emergency room, another patient dies of a brain aneurysm. Both of them are organ donors, so a surgeon decides it's the perfect opportunity for him to try an experimental surgery. He transplants the victim's higher brain (the cerebellum) to the donor's body in an attempt to 'save' a life. Amazingly it works. But the surgery was not approved so the hospital convinces the families to keep quiet, arguing that revealing this operation to the public would bring never-ending media attention to all involved. That means that the patient will have to publicly assume the identity of the donor. What will this mean to your friends and family? Who else will you tell? Although you will spend a lot of time and effort giving support, how will all this alter your relationship to the patient? And how will he or she adapt to a complete change of body and identity? Many transformation stories focus on the change or victim, so I thought it would be interesting to instead have the POV be someone who sees the change from the outside. Writers feel free to explore a change in age, gender, class or ethnicity - and the repercussions that change would have on the main character (and others).
