Felicia was still having trouble assimilating everything that had just happened. The situation was truly surreal. Fortunately, or rather unfortunately, those enormous breasts on her chest reminded her that the situation was very real.

This was clearly not the right approach to take when dealing with someone who had so much power. She'd probably regret it soon enough.

_"But no, that would be a waste, here's the list of what's inside" _said Nola before a list appeared in the hand of each person present.

"Exactly! Our 3 friends take turns picking up a gift and opening it to receive their prizes. However, they can decide at any time to stop and take no more gifts. But this choice is final," says Nola.

"So, they can all refuse to take gifts and not fall into this trap," says Leo.

"Trap? There's no such thing here, I'm giving them a chance. How can she expect to win when people like Jessica and Abigail are already more than 20 VP ahead?" says Nola.

It was factually correct. But it required some thought. You had to look at the odds. Weigh the pros and cons. As well as...

"Then I'll take the biggest one," said Maria, grabbing the first gift.

"That's not the point. Put the gift back," said Olivia.

"I'm afraid that's not possible. Once she's taken it, she must open it," said Nola.

Maria complied and quickly tore open the wrapping. She must have really enjoyed it, given the speed with which the package unraveled to reveal only an empty box.

"But there's nothing," said Maria, not hiding her disappointment.

"Phew" Olivia sighed.

"I'm sorry, Maria, but you've drawn an empty parcel. Better luck next time," said Nola.

"Okay then, I'll have another." said Maria.

Maria says, "No. First your sister and Felicia must decide if they're going to have any." said Nola.

The choice was complicated. There was still more chance of drawing a correct packet than the opposite, but that wasn't significant either.

"I'll do it," said Olivia, stepping forward to pick up a packet. Unlike her sister, she had chosen the smallest one. Was it chance?

She opened it slowly and a message appeared.

So, one of the worst lots had been drawn. Good for her. The odds were now 60% in her favor. It wasn't important, but the stakes were worth the candle. It probably was.

Felicia moved silently forward to take the package from the top right-hand corner. She untied it without tearing the paper. There was no point in wasting it. Once opened, a message appeared.

Olivia stepped forward and picked up the gift next to the one her sister had just taken.

With a 71% chance of winning, it would be stupid not to give it a try and stop now. So she picked up a gift at random. There was probably no logic in the placement or shape of the packages anyway.

Unsurprisingly, Maria and then Olivia picked up their packets and collected their rewards.

There was only the 15 VP reward left. The chances of victory were really too slim.

"I'll forgo taking any more gifts," said Felicia.

"That's a good idea," said Olivia.

_"NO!" _said Olivia, trying to stop her sister.

But she was too late. Maria had taken a present.

"It's too late. You've got to open it, Maria," said Nola, who obviously couldn't stop smiling.

Maria nodded and opened the package.
