Chapter 3 by extreme1000 extreme1000

Who does the Corruptor meet?

It's Cyclops

The leader of the X-Men and a guy everyone often derided as a Boy Scout.

The perfect person for corruption.

He had to play his role to perfection, because if Scott suspected anything, he'd be in a shitload of trouble.

"Can I help you?" Scott asked him, confused by his presence.

"I'm Joshua and I'm here about the opening at the school!" The Corruptor eagerly said.

Scott gave him a skeptical look about his claim.

"I don't know anything about an opening here." He responded, immediately a light bulb went off in The Corruptor's head as he got perfect opportunity to corrupt Scott.

"Huh, that's weird, I'd figure you'd always be in the loop on such a thing." He said.

"I would be, and I haven't heard anything about bringing anyone new in." Scott said.

"I'm guessing you didn't see the newspaper." The Corruptor responded, before producing a copy of said newspaper.

Scott looked at the newspaper and asked him to wait out here for a few minutes.

The ad was, of course, a fake, planted there by someone under the employ of that same mysterious person and placed in a spot that ensured no one would notice it.

But Scott didn't know that, instead he saw something he didn't like.

He came back after a few minutes with another copy of the newspaper, he seemed confused.

"I had no clue we had an opening here." He said.

"You'd figure Xavier would have let his right hand man know that." The Corruptor said seeming deep in thought.

"Yeah, you'd think it, but he was probably too busy to tell me." Scott countered, he wasn't sure why he felt so open talking to this guy and why he felt so annoyed at Professor X.

"I mean, it is kind of disrespectful if you ask me, but I guess that's how things are here." The Corruptor continued.

Scott wanted to ignore that jab, but, deep down inside, he felt like this guy was right.

"You know what, let's see what the Professor has to say about this." Scott said, leading him into the Professor's office.

****

Charles Xavier was completely baffled by the ad.

He had no clue how it had gotten in the paper.

The Corruptor looked over at Scott, given the recent conversation, he knew that Scott didn't 100 percent believe Xavier, although he didn't say anything about that and Xavier didn't seem to pick up on it as he was too busy calling the paper to complain about the ad.

Scott would have believed him, had the Corruptor not already gotten his hooks in him, so he simply watched and told himself that Charles was simply trying to act dumbfounded to get out of this, but he made sure not to show any of this publicly.

For his part, The Corruptor played his role of "Confused guy who is down on his luck and looking for a job" perfectly.

"Look, we might not have placed the ad, but I think he'd make a great addition to the staff." Scott said, surprising Xavier with his insistence that he give this Joshua person a chance.

To the Corruptor, it was a clear power play (which he approved of).

Scott was clearly questioning his role on the team and The Corruptor was more than happy to eventually help him answer that question.

After a bit of back and forth, Xavier finally caved and offered the job of IT guy to Joshua, which he immediately accepted.

The money wasn't great but the free room and board was more than enough to make up for it.

The Corruptor now was in the system and it was time to start doing some real damage to everyone he could.
