Chapter 28 by Almax Almax

Oh yeah, that probably IS an option. It'd certainly help!

It'll help when exams come, to be sure! (-1pt Free Time)

"Hey, that's not a bad idea!" You say. Miranda lifts her head. "Do you think you've got time to help me out, or do you need to go have lunch now?"

"N-no!" Miranda says quickly. "No, I mean, yes, I do- no, I don't need to go have lunch, I can...."

She quickly rushes over to her desk, the one directly to your left, and grabs the chair to bring it and place it down next to yours. She plops herself down into it in a single motion, both hands falling into her lap and staring down at the workbook in your hands. Oh, cool! This'll be awesome, then. It'll get you one step closer to doing well on those exams, when they eventually come around!

You open up the book and set it down on the desk. Miranda unslumps her shoulders a bit to get a better angle at reading, but doesn't complain about the book being at a weird tilt, so it's probably all good. The next several minutes are essentially made up of you reading the notes in your head, then pointing and asking questions whenever you're not sure of something. You tried reading out loud to begin with, but after going about a quarter of the page you realised that you had no idea what was being said and were just kind of reading noises from the page and had to start again.

Miranda's notes are very helpful, so it's not often you need to ask questions that are super important, but you still get in a couple of off-topic questions for her to answer. Like, do monsters have favourite foods, or do they just eat whatever? Can they crave stuff? Miranda seemed pretty dismissive of the idea.

Most of the rest of the time, she's just sitting there while you read, and scanning your face for approval to make sure her notes are good enough. You're careful to make your face clearly show her that they definitely are, for safety!

It looks like the Monster Theory class was mainly about monster weaknesses again. But some of it will probably be really helpful in the future! For example, the bluish skinned monsters from the North of the island mostly have fused ribcages, which means their lungs can't expand very big and they pretty much need to be constantly breathing to get enough air. So, if you're ever in trouble with them, retreating even just a tiny bit under water will see you completely safe!

Another thing that really stands out is that Giants apparently never grow out of that unfused baby head phase that humans have, so there's a big weakpoint right in the middle of the top of their heads that you can use to your advantage! Miranda even drew some detailed little images of the side and top of Giants' skulls, so that you can really visualise the sort of diamond-shaped weak spot. She's not got many ideas for how you could get up that high when you ask, though, which sort of makes sense since combat isn't really her thing....

"Hey, wait a sec." You say. "Does that mean Giants are babies at some point? But, like, Giant babies? Are baby Giants adult human size or something?"

Miranda shrugs. "Either way, you can still kill them with that weakpoint." She says, without any of the stammering or awkwardness she's had for most of the conversation. Ummmm.... true, but...

Miranda blinks a few times then looks over to you, her face quickly flushing and looking away again. "A-ah, well, that's all of the notes from class, then.... I hope that helped a bit."

She stands up quickly and pushes her chair back over to its desk neatly.

"I-if you've got anything else, then.... and feel free to read through that workbook if you ever forget any of it!"

She grabs her backpack, throws it over one shoulder, and hurries out of the classroom. Oh, well, she was right. That was the last thing on the last page of notes. You're actually feeling pretty comfortable about that all, surprisingly! The colour coding of the notes really helped, and you get the feeling it'll stick in your brain really quite well.

You close the book up and tuck it under your arm, standing from your seat and walking out of the empty classroom. You'll drop this off in your room, where Cameron took your other stuff, and then head to the Courtyard for the rest of lunch before carrying on with the day. You feel a bit bad for not being able to greet Lexi or pay attention in Ben's class, but on the upside, you're well rested and educated now! So that's two in the basket for Debbie.

+2 Study Points! (that'll come in handy later)

Maybe you should write some notes for Miranda, too, in case she needs your help in First Aid class or something like that. She'd probably really appreciate it!
