Is that the end of the story?

Oh. I guess I didn't spell that out. I had assumed I didn't need to. My apologies.

Mister Player is waiting on you to write his perfect ending. It doesn't have to be you, specifically, if you have a friend with some free time who is good at writing. I assume that you had a favorite warm and fuzzy ending? Maybe that one where Player thought about his future as a father to Maria and husband to Rosa? Perhaps it was the one where that bunny shared mutual affection for him.

All you need to do to continue the story is write a chapter where Player gets his happy ending and submit it. Well, rather than a chapter, I suppose it would need to be greater volume...

I can see you're confused. The game master already declared he would only allow stories where H. I. Player died at the end, after all. That game master is a pushover, though. In RPG terms, he's more of a midboss than a boss. Don't be fooled by his scary face. If your chapters are well-written enough, and show enough love for the source material, he'll approve them. I don't believe any miracle is required for that... Only your effort.

Just relax. All you need is a small number of chapters. Mister Player is already a man past the young years of his life, after all. You simply need to write a few hundred pages.

If I must spell it out for you once more... I'd recommend starting with a heart-pounding scene where he confesses his love. This takes place only a day after meeting his target, but I'm sure you can make it believable. Next, you need to write a thrilling escape scene where Player defeats every enemy: the demons that try to stop him, the friends and families of his target who don't approve of his marriage, even a couple of witches. Make sure you spend at least a hundred pages describing how thoroughly that kid Lambdadelta gets defeated. Finally, you'll reach the good part: Player's life after adventure. Obviously, I'm not talking about all that erotica nonsense he wrote. You'll need to write convincing, thorough, and heartwarming tales of how he grows old, how he works his daily job to provide for his family, how his children grow and act out against him, how he puts them through college, how he ends up in a rough spot with his wife, they grow apart, he meets a new love, settles down with a new family, visits his doctor and gets the bad news, finds reconciliation with his enemies at the end, and passes on peacefully and naturally into the next life.

Once you've written that chapter, Player will have his happy life. Or, you could wait for someone else to do it... but I'm rooting for you, okay?

Ryukishi07 and those other kids worked hard on that story... So, if you haven't read it yet, I suggest simply calling Player back from the darkness, brewing some tea, and enjoying another chapter. Maybe you'll think of something for your own chapter, in the meantime?
