Chapter 1674 by Fiftyfiftyfifty Fiftyfiftyfifty

What do you do?

Invoke your power.

For years beyond even the existence of Tivera, the bunnyfolk and catfolk have squabbled. Between claims of land, and complete misunderstandings of their gods, even though most of them live together now, their fighting persists to this day. You almost forgot. At Castle Phoenix, nobody cares. Everybody is a misfit, and they've all learned to love one another no matter what. It's been some time since you've explored Avana. Sadly, these conflicts still happen, but tensions have now risen enough to where a truly terrible thing is about to occur. Those who are more **** in their beliefs are about to have the perfect opportunity to unleash their anger.

And to make matter worse, it's happening on a day purely about unity, strength, and the safety of Tivera.

But you're not just an adventurer. You're not even just a king. You have power beyond that of just a nation's ruler. In recent days, you've developed a sort of Divine Scent. Your presence itself is enough to attract the attention of those like the Empress of Ice, or unfortunately, the one who may eventually try and hunt you down. Regardless of the danger, you now have a much more literal aura, even if most would be unable to perceive it. The paired with the cloak you wear blessed by all five divines at Castle Phoenix, fills you with strength and confidence, and it even now it feels like their eyes are upon you, and their hands are on your back.

You throw said cloak open wide.

"I demand for this conflict to cease, and to have your attention now!" you call out.

Immediately, everybody's eyes turn to you, even Mayor Mittens, Nutmeg, and the others.

Now that their focus has shifted, at least for the time being, you continue. "This is a day of celebration, but not just of victory! There are invisible strings that bind us all. Our friends. Our family. We connect with those we love in a way impossible to define."

It doesn't seem like you've settled things yet. Tension is still growing.

"And I haven't finished my story either. I've done more than I could explain here today, but I'd like to confirm a few rumours about me, especially recent ones. Yes. I have spoken directly to beings some may even refer to as gods. There were a few at Castle Phoenix during a grand celebration merely days ago. Merchants who were visiting can confirm. And amongst those numbers were two individuals of great interest now. You surely know them by name. I have befriended the ancient beings known as Feli and Lepo."

That did it. Now the energy is shifting.

"Make way, make way," the mayor demands as she hurries to the front of the audience. In her wake, two guards follow, each one grasping a different bunnyfolk--the one who struck the man, and Nutmeg herself. They all stop just short of the stage. "What did you just say? How dare you--"

"Bring me a FibNot."

"Excuse me?"

"I'm being serious. I'll hold it for the rest of the speech."

People whisper, and look between one another. Eventually, one is passed up the crowd, and you're handed a small cylinder you haven't seen in some time. You lean down, take it from the person, and hold it proudly in the hand opposite of the one which grips the mic. You then repeat your self. "Not only am I friends with Feli and Lepo, but I aided them. We're incredible close now. They even bestowed a boon upon me."

Much to everybody's surprise, the FibNot does nothing.

One person screams, "Oh my gods, he's using my FibNot~!"

Nutmeg looks to you, perplexed. "He must be utilizing some kind of magic. What he's saying is impossible."

"We agree on something," says the Mayor.

You tuck the FibNot between your belt and hip. Words alone aren't going to do it. If it were that easy, there'd be no conflict at all anymore. With a deep breath, you once again throw open your cloak, but this time you evoke their names. You aren't playing around anymore. With all of your might, you call out, "Feli! Lepo! If you care for your people, please come to me now! I know you wished to observe their growth from afar, but if you don't intervene now, it'll all be for not. Come. Please. I need your aid."

Nothing happens at first, yet in that silence, you were clearly convincing, as the entire audience turns silent. Even Mittens looks unsettled.

Just before she's about to speak on the matter, her lips shut, and her eyes widen.

Their presence is felt across the park. Warping from the space just above the stage's roof, a gargantuan rabbit bathed in light leaps through the air, and lands not far from where Mittens and Nutmeg stand. They back up immediately, making room for the divine beast to stand proud before the foot of the stage. It's towering, almost blinding light leaves the audience in awe. Nobody knows what to say. People dare not move. And upon closer inspection, a figure rides upon the rabbit's back, and while not in the form of a beast, her aura is still felt all the same.

The vibrant glow of Lepo shrinks down as she shifts into her humanoid form. In moments, she's of normal height, and Feli is held in her arms.

Feli, the creator god of the catfolk race, slips from her partner's grip, and then gives her a quick peck on the cheek. "Thank you for the ride, my sweet," she whispers.

Lepo, the creator god of the bunnyfolk race, smiles affectionately. Her ears twitch upon the whisper of the other. "Anytime, my love."

And there they are, in the flesh, the aforementioned gods, dressed as always in a loin cloth and strategically placed hair. You remember the first time you very own catfolk and bunnyfolk stood before them in their domain. Here, you see many people drop to their knees. Even those of other races follow suit. It seems their presence is something impossible to mimic. No longer are they accusing you of magical mischief. This is the real deal.

You extend a hand. "Join me on the stage?" you ask.

Feli smiles. "Gladly. But I thought as a mortal man, you would prefer to see me from behind."

"Nah, never."

Beep beep! The FibNot lights up.
