Garz the goblin builds a harem
Once you go green, it becomes routine
The cold and damp cave echoed as a group of goblins bickered with on another as they tried to light a fire. They were unsuccessful in their endeavours, and annoyed shrieks and yells filled the cave.
It had been raining today, and the band of four goblins had become soaked as they scavenged for food that day. They returned to their home, a cave that easily housed them all, and for their troubles of today, they had come across a dead and half-eaten rabbit, discarded by a wolf.
They tried in vain to light a fire with rocks and twigs, their bellies aching from hunger as they desperately tried to ignite some embers. But to no avail, the blood dripping from the rabbit spilled onto the rough ground, and the little meat on the carcass would not be able to feed them all. As they argued about making a fire, and how to distribute the measly meal, one of the four goblins had been sitting far away from them all.
His name was Garz, and he was angry. He, like the others was a small in statured goblin, with a height of just over four foot, with a lithe but oddly athletic body. He had dark hair on his head, that was shaved at the sides to give him a short Mohawk style. His eyes were a deep dark brown, and his nose was short, despite the propaganda from humans. Garz was part of a tribe before these idiots, and they were a competent tribe that was able to hunt, and steal to give themselves better lives.
It wasn't until a group of adventurers came and then destroyed the nest he was apart of, and he had to flee for his life. After some travelling, he came across some stragglers, (these three morons) who had in turn fled from an attack of their tribe too.
Garz joined them reluctantly, believing strength in numbers was better than being alone and vulnerable. He soon found out how inept these three were. They possessed no survival skills, and their fighting prowess was severely lacking.
The first night they all nearly succumbed to a grumpy bear that was feeding on fish near a river. One of the band thought it wise to attack the bear, but he soon found out how fierce a hungry bear is. We all fled, with one of us suffering from a wound of the bear's claw that had festered and never healed right. They were useless when it came to hunting, scaring the prey off before Garz had an opportunity to kill a doe with a sharpened stick.
Garz had been with these three for just over two days now, and had to resort in eating roots and berries to fill his belly. Meat was what he craved, like he had back in his tribe. Sweet smelling and smoky tasting meat, the type that made your mouth water. This memory of a feast from the past made his stomach grumble, and it pissed him off even more.
The only thing that Garz had managed to take away from him after the attack on his nest was some of his weapons. He had a well kept, and very sharp dirk, along with a hatchet axe that was hanging off his boiled leather belt. He was unable to retrieve his armour, a combination of chain mail and leather that was fitted specifically for him. All he was wearing now was a dirty white shirt, and brown wool woven pants. The other goblin only wore loin clothes, and nothing else, they didn't even have any weapons. Garz had never bothered to learn their names, and neither did they for him.
Despite being more experienced, and better equipped, these goblins didn't listen to him, and went of by blind instinct, that was more trouble than it was worth. Garz was confident that these cretins wouldn't even notice if he were gone, and he doubted they would last the week at this pace.
Garz's attire was still wet and cold from the rain, and he knew he could start the fire that the other goblins were trying to make. But he didn't want to aid in their survival, as he had grown tired of them. He had his arms crossed and a scowl furrowed in his brow as he watched their pathetic attempt at trying to get warm and trying to cook the rabbit.
He was near the cave's entrance, and heard the rain had let up, this was his chance to slip away and leave this sorry band of goblins.
"Fuck it." He grumbled to himself. He got up,
Not even giving them the courtesy of an awkward goodbye, and he strode out of the cave into the open air.
He had no plan in mind at where to go, but now that he was in his own, he had a better chance at hunting. If he could fashion another makeshift spear of sturdy wood, maybe he could take down a doe or fox to eat. If he came across some strong vine, he could make a trap for a rabbit, and finally have some meat again.
Garz knew his kind were looked down upon, and adventurers now only attacked goblins if they became a horde and posed a threat to towns and cities. That must have been the reason his tribe had been targeted, they were becoming too strong and had to be eradicated as a deterrent.
That still didn't give them the right to attack as they did. The adventurers destroyed the nest with fire, and killed many a great warrior in the tribe. Garz had been trained by a one such warrior named Sharp-swipe, who taught him the techniques that served him well in fights.
Before all the tragedy had befallen on his tribe, Garz had dreams. He may not have been a high ranking member at the time, but he was working his way up, and starting to gain respect. What Garz wanted most when in his previous tribe...was a harem.
Garz had engaged with sex with his own kind before, but he wanted to know what it would be like to have a harem of women at his beck and call.
He trudged with and waded through mud, brushing thickets past him as he made his way to who knows where.
He managed to find a nice looking branch that had fallen from a tree, and sharpened it with his dirk. He also found some tracks of a what may have been a deer, and followed them. His belly rumbling to let him know at how hungry he was.
He soon heard something in the distance, that didn't belong to any animal. He creeped quietly, not wanting to alert a possible foe. As he made his way through som bushes, he spotted a campsite. He had a great view of it from where he was crouched.
