A parasite is spreading rapidly and over the last few days, things have started to shut down as people turn into animals. These animals are anthropomorphized, but they seem incapable of a lot of things humans can do and while they can be convincing, they aren't actually that smart.

You and some of your friends have been hiding out in a bunker one of your friends had, they were a doomsday preppers.
