Into the main house to party

"Drink up, you're going to need it," Hannah told her as she tilted the bottle up, practically pouring the peppermint liquor down Jenna's throat. She shook her head a little, wide-eyed as she mentally implored her friend to stop, but the rush of burning mint flavor kept coming. After a moment, her eyelids drooped a little as she gave in and did her best to drink more of it.

"There you go, see? It's not so bad, you just need to loosen up," Hannah said comfortingly, pulling the bottle away and taking a very short swig off it before screwing the cap back on. "Now let's go in."

Jenna sat in the car as Hannah got out, trying to process what had just happened. She wondered if this really was the best idea, but then her car door opened and Hannah took her hand, leading her up to the door. They knocked, and after a moment it creaked open as a drunken member of the drumline let them both in. "Oh shit, never thought I'd see her here," he told Hannah as they both went inside.

"She's going to have fun tonight," Hannah assured him, smiling at Jenna. Jenna did her best to smile back, her throat still a little raw from the drinks... but she was right. She needed to have fun tonight, wasn't that what she was trying to do? Go out, be better, have fun for once?

She didn't know how to respond, or even if she was supposed to respond to the drummer, so she didn't. That suited him and Hannah just fine from what Jenna could tell as they chatted, both leading her further into the house. There were a lot more people around than she expected, and not just band geeks: she noticed people from the choir, middling actors from drama class, athletes from the track team... maybe not the most popular cliques, but a much bigger party than she expected to see.
