Chapter 64 by Erolord Erolord

Into the encampment

As you pass through the threshold of the palisade, the nerves actually begin. Now in the heart of the enemy, the realization of what you’ve signed up for actually begins to set in. Even if you wanted to flee, the further you go into this camp, the harder that will become. You try your best to shake that terrifying notion as you proceed with your allies.

Proceeding past the palisade you can now get a good look at the encampment. It seems the encampment is built upon a hill where the higher ranking orcs reside closer to the top. You can see this in the quality of the tents and other structures the further up the hill you look. Even though it’s dark you can see the tents uphill are much bigger then those at the base of the hill.

“Leader should be at the top of the hill. We gotta get there, ice em’ and get the hell outta dodge.” Bax says confirming your theory.

“Easier said then done.” You say

“It always is. You two, work together. I will go ahead and disable some of the more troublesome sentries.”

You give Syvella a thumbs up and she nods in return.

“Aye, two can move quieter than three. You’ll meet us at the top of the hill yeah?”

“Course.” Bax says with reassuring hand gesture.

“Well then, Iyda and I shall give you a head start before we begin our climb.”

“See ya at the top.” Bax looks both ways, and crosses a main road headed further into the camp.

Moving through the lower tents

You wait with Syvella for a couple uneasy moments before you too cross the main road and up the hill. At first it’s easy to avoid the common walkways as the outer side of the camp consists of sparse groups of tents. Eventually though, you reach a point where the tents are packed in tightly and avoiding them is impossible.

You pass by multiple tents remaining cautious as to their inhabitants. In some you hear snoring, in others the primal, animalistic sounds of mating. In some tents, just pure silence. Somehow those are the most unnerving of all. You try and put it out of your mind the best you can and continue with Syvella following close behind.

Eventually you reach a notable fork in the road. To your left is one of few solid structures in this camp. It appears to be a wooden stable. Behind it is some foliage you could use for cover to continue up the hill. Despite the safety offered by the foliage, dancing shadow and light coming from within the stables indicate it might be occupied. To your right is a continued labyrinthian maze of tents that continue up the hill. It seems quiet but there is no telling how many of those tents are occupied.
