Into the Dim Light

Magdalena sat in the confessional with her face buried in her hands. The scent of her over-spilling lust enveloped her in the narrow booth like a thick, soft cloth. Despite the turmoil raging inside her, she couldn't help noticing that the priest hadn't left either. This was unusual, as he was usually one of the first to arrive at meals.

Yes, the confession wasn't actually over yet. She had had to stop in the middle of describing her sins. Accordingly, he had not yet spoken the final words to forgive her guilt. Was he perhaps waiting for her to continue? She listened to see if she could detect any sign of this and heard only slow, heavy breathing behind the thin wall.

“Father, should I go on?” she asked quietly. But there was no answer.

She peered through the small gaps in the partition and discovered that he was actually just sitting there quietly, leaning forward and, as far as she could see, with his eyes closed.

She tried to speak to him again. In vain.

Waiting was beyond her strength, so she got up from her kneeling position and stepped out into the wide nave. Usually, all the nuns were in the refectory at this time. She was therefore surprised to see a sister standing in the shadows at the back of the church, looking over at her. In the dim light, she couldn't tell which of her fellow nuns was there. Apparently the person was waiting for her. Magdalena blanched. Had someone overheard what had happened in the confessional and now wanted to reprimand her? Or worse still, was she to be taken to the superior?

She gathered all the courage she could muster and approached the dark figure. The closer she got, the clearer its features became. When Magdalena finally realized who was waiting for her, she stopped abruptly and let out a suppressed scream. Her voice echoed frighteningly loud in the high room.

Dressed in a nun's habit, the terrifying figure from her nightmare was lurking there. An icy shiver ran down her spine.

“Well, aren't you going to finish what you started?” asked the succubus in the sultry voice Magdalena remembered only too well.
