Chapter 74

What’s next?
Intermission End. Reflexions.
One day, when you have some time to yourself, your thoughts drift to the current state of your life. Truth is, everything going so fast. After all, you secretly have three girlfriends already. That’s just… mind boggling. Though with the help of something with the name “affection multiplier”, you guess that’s to be expected. It’d be hard to believe it was real if not for the very vivid memories. Yet those same memories told you it was time for a break. A small break. You decided not to actively attempt to raise scores with anyone, just letting the Affection Multiplier do its thing as you interact with people, though it’s not like you actually talk to that many.
Really, it’s been a relaxing time, devoid of many interesting events. Though there have been a few to mention:
-Ms. Fujiwara will offer a First Aid course for those interested, the recent incident making her act on something she’d been planning for a long time, apparently. She invited you personally, and you agreed, even if you hope you’ll never have to use what you’ll learn. It starts next semester though.
-As promised, you went to see the debate team participate in the beginning stage of a local competition. It was a good performance, and your school won. You didn’t get to talk to Sophia, Katherine, or even Mia, but it seems they saw you in the audience and were happy about your attendance. Well, at least the former two were.
-There’s also a worrying topic regarding that. Mia hasn’t been looking like herself the past couple of weeks. She’s keeping everyone at a distance, more so than usual, and has even snapped in class a couple of times when people interrupted her. Fortunately, it hasn’t led to anything terrible, but you’re concerned. Maybe she has too much work? You‘ve tried talking to her, but whenever you do, she smiles tiredly and promises to talk later, though that later hasn’t come yet, and you haven’t been able to sit down and talk to Emma about it either, what with midterms and all that.
-Oh yeah, midterms happened, which meant no naughty time for Emily and Megan since you gave them a last-minute crash-course on every subject the week before and during exams, much to their disappointment. Of course, it’s not like it wasn’t tempting to just drop everything and go at it like rabbits, but not only do they need to improve their school performance, you yourself are on a tight rope and getting bad grades wouldn’t help your situation at all. Sadly, you also didn’t get to see Emma outside of school since she was busy preparing said midterms. You feel you did pretty well yourself, since having to tutor the girls served as a good way for you to study and Emily and Megan actually feel pretty confident they did decently.
Other than that, things have been pretty quiet. People around you are being a lot less hostile so you’ve been able to focus on your training, studying and close relationships.
…
Okay, that’s not entirely true. There is one thing you’ve been trying your hardest to ignore, not wanting to acknowledge it. You don’t even know what to make of it.
-Hughes, Olivia-
Affection Score: 46.
Love Score: 27.
-Reed, Lilian-
Affection Score: 42.
-Ramirez, Jessica-
Affection Score: 63.
Love score: 5
How on earth does this happen? Is it really possible for people to change their opinions of someone this drastically? They say that from love to hate there’s only one step, but is the opposite true?
When you sit to think about it, there are a couple of possible reasons that come to mind: One, you did save Olivia’s life, so it’s possible she actually feels grateful about it, and the Affection Multiplier made those feelings even stronger. Two, you kind of forgot about it because you bought it in an act of desperation, but you do have the No More Enemies trait. It’s very likely that your actions were strong enough to blow through their hatred, in a manner of speaking, taking their scores well into the green.
What’s even weirder is that none of the three have some much as approached you since then. Even when Olivia came back to school, there was nothing. You don’t know if that’s for the best. On one hand, it’s good to be free of their harassment, but on the other hand, it’s weird as shit. Olivia not only thinks of you in a positive light now, but she even likes you in a romantic way. What’s even weirder is that Jessica’s score not only moved for once, but it outright jumped to the 60s, giving you 50 more friendship points (leaving you at a high 320) and confusing the crap out of you. She even has a low, yet still present love score.
Now, you’re no psychologist, but if you were to start theorizing, you’d say that Olivia’s scores are, in a way, understandable, and the other two are a result of you saving what seems to truly be a close friend of theirs.
Well, as much as it weirds you out, it’s not like you’ll act on it. You have no interest in approaching them. You have better, way more interesting things to do.
