Intermission 8: Sophia and Katherine.
She doesn’t know how her boyfriend does it, but for Sophia Johnson, paying attention during class is becoming more and more difficult. Her mind always tends to wander off to other places. Naughty places.
Ideas for what to write in her little special notebook are always in her head, and she’s not lacking any inspiration recently.
God, things have been amazing. She has a loving boyfriend, her parents accept him and he’s making all her fantasies come true. It’s difficult not to think back to the night of that fivesome. Dammit, just thinking about it makes her a little wet.
David really slept with 4 women, and she was one of them! Not only that, but now her favorite teacher, Mia Owens, is one of David’s girlfriends too! Things are only getting better.
She wants to let her imagination flow and write so many scenes where David takes them all, and eagerly looks forward to the day that will happen again. Finals are getting closer, and with that comes winter break. A couple of weeks for them to hopefully indulge in their own debauchery.
The bell for the second recess rings, and she knows David will be going to talk to Emma and Mia.
Now, Sophia has become a very social girl since her senior year of high school. Even here at Hayes she has many people she gets along with and a few close friends. Yet lately she feels like wanting to spend her time with her fellow… girlfriends? Haremettes?
Whatever way to call them, she’s been enjoying greatly spending time with them, even when David’s not there.
Emily and Megan are not the kind of people she would’ve normally formed a friendship with. They’re, well… jocks, in a way. They know very few of the books she’s read, and even then only by name. They don’t watch the same movies or have similar hobbies at all. The crazy thing? She loves that! There’s a sense of satisfaction from growing closer to people so different from her.
And so, she leaves her classroom to look for Emily and Megan. However, someone stops her in the hallway.
“S-Sophia?” She hears a familiar voice from behind and turns to look.
“Katherine? What is it?”
The cute redhead looks a little nervous. She shifts in place and has troubles meeting Sophia’s eyes. “Can we talk? In private?”
Sophia knows this is odd. She doesn’t know why, but from the beginning it’s felt as though Katherine has had something against her. Well, she did win the position of team captain against her. She probably would be holding a grudge still if things were the other way around.
Still, it sucks because it’s really fun competing with her. They have similar interest and skillsets, so she’s been making it her aim to at least beat Katherine on the academic side of things.
She wishes they could get along. Her cute looks and her obvious crush on David made her sneak her way into her erotic writings. Dammit, now she’s thinking about those things again.
Hey, maybe this an opportunity! For whatever reason, Katherine won’t make a move on David, and her boyfriend’s been focusing on his new relationships with Mia and herself. Maybe if Katherine and David started going out, then she could get closer to the redhead as well?
She decides to think positive instead of thinking of the possibility that it might just make things worse.
“Sure.” Sophia nods. “Let’s go to the library.”
Katherine nods in agreement. They go to one of the library cubicles, which are thankfully soundproof. They sit at the table facing each other.
“So, what do you want to talk about? I don’t want to sound mean, but it doesn’t seem like you like me very much.”
“It’s… it’s not that I don’t like you.” Katherine say, looking to the side. “I’m just… bad at dealing with people.”
“I’ve noticed.” Sophia’s mouth curls into a small smirk, which she regrets when she sees the redhead flinch. “I don’t get why though.” She adds. “You’re always so coherent and expressive during debates.”
“I don’t know, okay!? I just…” Katherine presses her lips, unable to get the words out.
Sophia sighs. “You wanted to talk to me, but we won’t get anywhere if you’re like this.”
The black-haired girl shifts in place, causing Katherine to look at her with a panicked expression. She’s about to beg her to stay before she sees her teammate putting her forearms on the table and leaning in.
“If there’s anything you want to get out of your system, I’ll hear you out. I promise that whatever you say won’t leave these soundproof walls. If you have something against me, I won’t talk back.”
Katherine’s eyes widen.
“Urgh! You’re so frustrating!” The redhead messes with her hair in frustration as she groans “Even when I’m being like this you’re the better person!” Then she calms down and slumps on her chair and sighs. “No wonder David asked you out instead of me.”
Her voice is barely a whisper, but in the silence of the room Sophia can clearly hear them.
“Ooooooooh. So that’s what this is about.” She says with a small grin, watching as the growing panic starts showing in Katherine’s face. Her face reddens, her eyes widen, and her mouth makes a futile attempt to form words.
“Ok, first things first. Katherine, girl, the fact that David and I are going out right now is just a huge accident.” Sophia laughs. “An incredibly fortunate accident, but still. Neither of us planned going up to the other and confess or something. It’s a little complicated, but let’s just say it happened because I lost something important and he found it.”
Katherine blinks with a blank expression. “You mean…”
“If you thought there was this really romantic scene as we both confessed our love… No, that didn’t happen.” Sophia chuckles. “It was pretty awkward for both of us.”
Katherine smiles wryly. She rests her elbow on the table and her chin on her hand.
“I don’t know if that makes me feel better or even more frustrated. It’s like you get the things I want without even trying.”
“What?” Sophia asks, confused.
“You’re better than me at everything we do. You won the captain seat; you beat me in midterms and suddenly started dating the guy I’ve had a thing for for months. You’re gorgeous, outgoing and get along with everyone. No wonder I can’t compare.”
“…” Sophia eyes Katherine for a bit before she allows a bit of her own frustration to leak. “I’m better at everything? Don’t joke with me. I wish I had half the expressiveness you have. The way you talk is able to draw people’s attention effortlessly and your body language is always confident and precise. And speaking of body, I’ve seen you in the locker room and believe me, you have PLENTY for me to be jealous of.”
Katherine quickly covers her chest with her arms, embarrassed.
“Seriously, that blazer doesn’t show you figure at all.” Unlike other girls who wear their school blazer just tight enough to show their curves, Katherine’s is baggier and her skirt a little longer. It manages to hide her slender, curvy figure and her generous chest.
“Katherine, I’m not effortlessly better than you at everything. I knew how good you were at debating, so I tried my hardest to beat you! I know how smart you are, so I pulled two all-nighters studying to win as well! I haven’t always been outgoing! And David’s had a thing for you even before he considered going out with me!”
Sophia crosses her arms and huffs in frustration. “You’re way more than you give yourself credit for.”
There’s silence in the cubicle. Katherine looks down at her knees, contemplating with a tight chest on the words of her rival. Sophia looks at her, wondering what to do from here.
“Does… Does David really have a thing for me?” Katherine asks, her voice weak.
Sophia can’t help but chuckle. “He does.”
“But… he’s already got three girlfriends.”
Five, Sophia corrects mentally. “Oh believe me, that’s not an issue. Neither of us nor him. This arrangement is actually really fun. REALLY fun.” She grins.
“Do you think I’d have a chance?” Katherine shifts nervously in her seat.
“Kat, you’re the one with the highest chances right now.” Sophia smiles. “David doesn’t date anyone if his girlfriends don’t agree, and we all agree that you deserve a shot.”
“W-Why…!?”
“Because you saved him from getting expelled!” Sophia says, as if it’s obvious. “If it weren’t for you, he’d be gone!”
“…” Katherine swallows. “Could you… help me?”
Sophia can tell that the way Katherine is allowing herself to be **** in front of her means a lot. Besides, she looks cute as a doll.
“I will. But on one condition.”
“W-What condition…?”
“Be my friend.” Sophia gives the redhead an innocent smile.
The tightness in Katherine chest starts to fade. It seems that speaking honestly can turn out better than she always thought.
