Chapter 72 by Fantasy Fantasy

Intermission 2: Megan Grant.

As she gets off the bus, sports bag on her shoulder and soccer ball under her arm, Megan Grant starts walking towards her house. It’s a fifteen-minute walk from the bus stop, and she really enjoys it. It lets her think for a bit, so as always, she puts down the ball and starts kicking it as she walks, controlling it flawlessly along the sidewalk. Very few cars pass by here, this being a very quiet, peaceful part of town, but she’s still careful not to cause any accidents.

She sighs heavily, trying her best to release her frustration. Really, even she knows it’s stupid to be frustrated about this, but she can’t help it. David has been very strict with tutoring in the past few days since midterms are coming. He’s even giving her and Emily a crash-course in EVERY SUBJECT. He’s been so strict that he even put his foot down on a “no naughty-time” rule during midterm time, which is really the reason for her frustration. She can’t help it! She wants to do it! She wants to have sex with him! She needs some release!

She knows Emily feels the same way, and while they COULD get together and do something by themselves… it would feel wrong in a number of ways. First of all, it’s not like David isn’t affected by this either. He can’t see Emma because she’s busy working, so he’s just as deprived of sexual release. Second, he’s doing it for their sakes, so they do well on their exams and can keep playing soccer. He doesn’t NEED to tutor them in every subject, but he’s doing it anyway because he’s amazing like that. And third, and without a doubt the most surprising, is that, while being with Emily is great and she loves her with all her being, it’s not the same as being with David. Really, she’s both happy and relieved David accepted being with all of them, because having to choose would break her heart. Emily is her best friend, like a sister, even. She’s her soccer partner, her captain. She’s her girlfriend and lover, and it’s amazing that David managed to earn himself a spot just as large in her heart, and in so little time.

She sometimes has dreams of all three of them living together, kids running around playing soccer and Emily yelling at them, warning them not to break anything while David assures them it’s fine but saying they still better play outside so as to not make mom mad, all the while Megan is holding her laughter.

She guesses she has to add Emma to that scene now, but she has troubles picturing how their unconventional household would work since she doesn’t know her teacher very well yet.

“My, that’s a big smile there, dear! Did something good happen at school?” As she passes by the bakery, the voice of the old lady who owns it calls her back to reality. Her smile is replaced by a look of embarrassment.

“N-No! Not at all! I was just…” Megan smiles sheepishly. “thinking of something nice.”

“That’s good dear. You’ve looked a lot better these days. It’s like you’re radiating happiness.” The old lady chuckles.

“Y-You think so?” Her face reddens.

“Oh yes! And I’m not the only one who thinks so! Your mother came by yesterday and said the same thing. She’s worried you might have a boyfriend and haven’t told her.” She chuckles again.

Megan flinches, but the old lady doesn’t seem to notice.

Right. She has to tell her parents eventually. Her mother doesn’t worry her too much, but her father is a huge worrywart. If he meets David, he’ll bombard him with questions and be very hostile towards him. Still, she’s sure her father would be quick to warm up to David. He has that much charm.

Then, she’s horrified. She realized that she thought of David first, and completely omitted Emily. Her chest feels cold at this. Not at the prospect of telling her parents she’s Bi, but at the fact she somehow put David over Emily.

“A-Anway. See you later, ma’am.” She says goodbye and resumes her walk, this time at an even slower pace.

What does this mean? Does she… love David more than Emily? She thought she loved them equally, but maybe that’s not the case. She tries to suppress that thought all the way back to her house, her good mood dampened by the fear of this new revelation. What should she do now? Should she even do anything? Is it really a problem if she loves one more than the other as long as she still loves them both?

Megan looks at her phone and decides she’ll talk about this with David next chance she gets. They all promised they wouldn’t keep secrets, but if she can sort her feeling by talking only to him first, that’d be for the best. She doesn’t want to hurt Emily by telling her this, and while she’s still very much apprehensive about bringing this to David, he’s been very understanding of her.

Wait.

What if… What if she talked to Emma instead?
