Chapter 3

How Does Sarah React?
Instill Discipline
This is pathetic, how can the chain of command survive when a soldier can outwardly disrespect the Lieutenant in this manner? Sarah has to instill some semblance of order, even if it means alienating herself from her new squad subordinates.
“I beg your pardon, marine?” Asks Sarah as she approaches, shaking the room as the small chuckle reverberating throughout the crowd ceases on the spot.
“Just sayin Sarge, we just kinda do our own thing around here…” says the man, nervousness creeping into his voice.
“Name and rank, soldier!” Shouts Sarah, her stern tone seemingly activating whatever passes for training his boot camp instilled in him.
The man jumps at attention, straight as an arrow as he identifies himself. “Ben Milo; Private, ma’m!”
“Private Milo, I’d strongly advise you refrain from disrespecting your superiors in the future, you’ll save yourself and those standing beside you a lot of trouble.” Says Sarah, eyes narrowed as she stares into the younger man’s soul.
Despite Milo being over a foot taller then the Sargent he seems so much smaller then before, like an ant looking at a fast approaching boot heel.
Sargent McClintock steps away from now, trusting that her words will be enough to discourage such behavior in the future.
Though the marines stare at her with varying levels of fear or anger, they say nothing and the feckless Lieutenant gives her a small nod of their head, a quiet thank you only she can perceive.
And With That, The Introduction Proceeds
