Inspection and question

The AWIO visit is perfunctory, just a quick check in. The inspector is a man named Kevin, and he seems to be pretty busy, hurrying though his checklist. Dakota’s presence doesn’t seem to be a problem, and merits only an amused look on his face. It seems this isn’t an unusual occurrence, and after a couple questions, he’s satisfied that all is well.

As Kevin is getting ready to leave, however, Mazzy has a question of her own. “Before you leave, do you know if Ellie is still at the AWIO?”

Kevin nods. “She is. Poor thing, she just can’t get the nerve to pick a sponsor. You two are friends, right?”

“Yeah, I was trying to help her get more confidence when Brian showed up. Do you think it would be possible to visit her?”

Kevin smiles. “I was just about to suggest that. It would be good for her to see you. If anything, Ellie’s gotten worse since you left.”

Mazzy pouts, looking at you. “Can we go visit? I feel bad leaving her there all alone, she’s probably so sad!”

You smile and nod. “Of course we can. Depending on how long the neighborhood meeting goes, either today or tomorrow.”

Mazzy claps her hands. “Yay! Thank you, my love.”

She gives you a big hug, and a kiss on the cheek. Dakota gives her a thumbs up, and Mazzy giggles. You look between the two women, and you can tell that there’s something going on.

“And just what are you two plotting?”

Dakota laughs. “Nothing! I’m just happy for Mazzy and her friend.”

Mazzy nods. “Why would we be plotting? You know we’re not going to cause you any problems, Brian.”

Kevin laughs as he stands. “Well, I can see that all is well here. Best of luck, Brian, you’re going to need it.”

He shakes your hand, and turns to Mazzy. “Would you like me to let Ellie know that you’re coming to visit?”

Mazzy nods excitedly. “Please do! I hope I can help her out!”

He smiles. “I’ll do that. I’m sure she’ll be very happy to see you, Mazzy.”

With that, Kevin nods, and heads out. You look at the girls, who grin at you. Shaking your head, you laugh.
