Chapter 93 by yamidamian

"You feel that in the air?"

Indeed-an unusual sense of calm

I stopped for a moment to feel it out. Yes...I couldn't put a pin in it, but something about it seemed less oppressive than before. Despite still being the same kind of place as the rest of this dungeon, gave me a kinda home-like feel I hadn't had in a while. Makes me want to slide under some covers and nap. Of course, given that there weren't enough bedrolls, and almost certainly none in the right size, going to have to wait a bit longer to make that reality. Plus, sleeping in a dungeon seems bad for your health. My health and mana being so depleted by my overly flashy last attack certainly wasn't helping the matter. "Um, yeah, I do, but what's that have to do with anything?"

The former elf tugs at my dress to get my attention and starts speaking up-but she's interrupted as Arete throws a switch and a massive grinding noise shook the room-and probably the rest of the dungeon. "Got it." He announced, holding the switch up triumphantly. Having seen the central room, we were all pretty sure what had happened without needing to check. He begins to unpack in a corner as the goblin resumes explaining. "That's a Coin Chest. Throw loot you don't want in it, shut it and open it-boom, cold hard cash!" I nod at that and ask further "And the air?" "Means this is a place we can rest for a night-nothing will happen until it stops feeling like that, or we try and **** its properties. Do not try that."

I simply let out a sigh of releif-looks like I'd have time to get back in good shape. I instruct my own pair. "You hear that? No reason to not rest up after that exhausting fight. Let's get some rest." The party ended up naturally splitting up into two groups-more based on trust than anything. My group, and Arete's. I tried to use their bodies as something like a comfortable layer-and it felt like it worked at first, the deer's fur not wholly unpleasant to lie against.

But something felt wrong as I tried to rest. It was like there was something wriggling under my skin, trying to get out. I couldn't truly rest with feeling, especially as trying to shove it down only made it flare harder. So I excused myself out of this room a moment, into the empty one nearby. Where instead of trying to ignore the feeling, I followed it, an act of focus causing what felt like something tightly contained to burst out-and found myself in my true body, the pressure gone now. I'd spent too much time cooped up into that tiny body-so limited then, felt good to be back at full power. Like how my HP started to much more rapidly bring back what was lost...

..Or sharpened senses showing a certain little green one had followed me.
